a stroker kit could do the job, but i hear there has been a lot of problems with them. Check out AEBS. They offer a 4.3 stroker with 11.5:1 compression ratio, but again I hear that they have been having a lot of problems with a $7800.00 parts only price tag.

I did almost all of the "easy" NA mods: intake, headers, plenum, exhaust, pulleys, flywheel, cams, etc., and only got to 279whp. That's roughly 335 engine hp. But if you want more, it will be big bucks, like bore and stroke kit, heads, etc. If you want an easy 350-400whp, go FI.

it's 95 octane and the price came down a week ago by (1L/16.5 cents) if i'm not wrong with my calc.

i only pay around $12-15 to fill my tank

and the reason why i don't wanna go FI is cuz i heard the engin will not last for 30k

you heard wrong or the person was misinformed. spend some time reading int he FI sub forum. There are several guys that are over 30K miles with FI. I believe one guy went FI at 60K and now has over 20K miles with an APS TT.
If you are that concerned with the motor lasting over 30K, built it and FI it. That set up will give you more horse power than a full n/a build and probably be more streetable as well. Not to mention it would be cheaper.

.
This is true, it was Jasons car from our shop.We installed the APS kit on the car with 60,000 ABUSED N/A miles on it, and the car now has over 30,000 ABUSED F/I miles on it..And knock on wood, its still running strong.
Cost effective wise, to achieve 400-450hp from the VQ in N/A form, is just plain silly..

The cost and impacticality of making a N/A 3.5L motor make over 450hp is simply silly..The car would have to run like 11-12:1 compression with stupid cams and all kinds of silly race non streetable stuff on it..It would, in the long run cost you twice as much as the TT set up and install..

Crate motors are race engines. They require constant maintenance and street/everyday reliability and drivability aren't exactly priorities.

BTW, there are a few tuners with 400+bhp VQ35DE (nismo, hks and jun I believe to name a few)

the formula renault 3.5 uses a 420bhp NA VQ35de

Yeah, a 400bhp NA VQ35DE will be the pinacle of longevity

The GrandAm Cup cars are getting north of 380hp. They use balanced and blueprinted motors with Nismo S1 (Japan) cam kits (cams, valve springs, VTC pulley etc) and Motec engine management all on pump gas. Figure $10-15k for the motor build and another $5-7k for the electronics. These motors are reliable and streetable.

Go NA !

With a 17% drive train loss that's about 315whp. I could do that with a stillen stage 2 supercharger and be very reliable and streetable only at about 25% of the cost of the set up you recommended.

Also you mentioned what the parts would cost, but you failed to mentioned all the labor cost for the install and tuning. You could add another $5K to that bill. $27K for 315whp? Take the car to SGP and you could have 600whp for less than that.

And another 3-8k for labor. Not a bad way to spend 18-30grand.

I would figure that price including the Motec. My motor build up will cost me about $11,000 and thats mainly because I am going with the Cosworth heads otherwise it would be less.
