duration or lift when choosing Cam's
hi guys
im looking at getting a set of cam's although would like a set that would make more power throughout the rpm range rather then peak power i want to keep the stock rev limiter as well. i know nismo r-tunes are good for this but they are a little mild and i was considering getting the tomei's with the intake duration higher than the exhaust as ive read that this will spread the power through the rpm's. although can someone shed some light on what importance cam 'lift' has when selecting cams and what is the best combination re: intake/exhaust cam lift for more power throughout the rpm's thanks Aaron :icon38: |

It really depends on the heads. If you look at the Cosworth flow data below, you can see that lift on the Cosworth head will benefit more than lift on the stock head. If I was looking for cams on a stock head I personally would want something with a longer duration instead of a huge lift. I then have someone tune the VTC angles for maximum power down low to maintain a good power band.
