What about for revup heads? Cam gears too yet?

g356gear Sep 8, 2006 08:20 PM

How much for a pair??

Vinny@VTR Sep 9, 2006 07:20 AM

We have begun working on Rev-Up heads already. I will post more info as soon as we have tested them. We have also made adjustable cam gears for the VQ35 and are testing them in a few cars. I will post more info and pricing early next week.

Forgive me for being ignorant, but why would the VQ35 need adjustable cam gears? I know little about them, but I do know they are used on alot of Supra engines. I thought since the VQ has variable cam phasing, we don't need adjustable cam gears. What am I missing?

The revups have a magnet/clutch type setup on the exhaust gears not hydraulic like the intake side and some shops are having trouble with it holding at higher rpm/boost/bhp levels. Plus getting rid of it makes engine managment and lots of other things just simpler.

Correct me if im wrong.

You hit the nail right on the head. The whole purpose behind adjustable cam gears is to allow engine tuners to optimize horsepower and torque by adjusting camshaft timing. By allowing us to be in complete control of the variable exhaust cams, we have overcome many of the obsticles presented by Nissan's use of clutch type system. I will post specifics as well as detailed info in the next two days.
