I've Had Just About Enough (Update)
 

Alright all,

Here is the scoop.

I had my car towed to AAM for inspection as to what was going on and it turns out the there was water in the oil...but not from a cause that anyone could have figured on without really seeing the setup on my car. :icon43:

Apparantly, the hood on my car (Veilside Version 3) combined with the recent driving in a snowstorm and numerous washes it's had due to the warm weather dumped enough water onto my intake to suck a bunch of water into my catch can. The catch can was filled with water, and since it had no place to go...made it's way into the oil, thus the reason for the milky substance under the gas cap.

The car is currently undergoing a compression test to ensure there are no other issues and has currently been restored to it's previous working order.

Tomorrow, barring no other issues found during the inspection, it will be fitted with it's new UTEC and out prowling the streets this weekend!

Thanks to all who chimed in on this thread, but this story has a happy ending.

1) AAM diagnosed and fixed the problem (Thanks Mike, Frank, Jason, Dave)
2) I'm not going to have to go without sex for the rest of the year (wife not pissed)
3) I have money to buy a few rounds for anyone stopping by Champion's in Frederick tomorrow evening (if I am able to pick up the car then...if not, next Friday!)

Exellent news! Cant wait to see the final numbers. BTW-why did the first thread dissapear? Nobody was being rude or nasty towards AAM and you were sharing an experience with us and poof its gone....

On the brighter side, I'm glad to hear everything's been worked out and that your car is "happy" again... Now tell Mike to hurry up with the tune and post up the numbers!!! :D

It wasn't that it was harsh, just getting to be alot to read and I didn't want anyone drawing the wrong conclusion by just reading the first few posts...which in the end turned out to be the right thing to do, seeing as how what happened was almost unforeseeable...and now we are are a little smarter and know a few more questions to ask if another member gets into the same predicament. :icon44:

Frank is running some tests on the engine to make sure everything is on the up and up, but from the looks of things so far, yes, it appears that the only issue was the catch can (water can).

I can understand water in the engine bay due to the hood, but having a CC myself how did water get in it? The lines going in/out are tight-what CC do you have and where under the hood is it mounted?

I hope your bearings are okay.

Not yet bro - erring on the side of caution...going to run it a day or so ath the shop and make sure everything is ok. Compression test came back good, so I will likely have numbers Monday or Tuesday.

yea they did a compression test on my car after I started loosing oil and seeing that gunk on the oil cap and everything checked out ok right before my motor blew.

Whenever you get any water in oil you must replace ALL the bearings and wrist pins - anything that will corrode.

Rings/compression are usually pretty resilent to water damage UNTIL the failure.

Did you have a forged engine or was it stock? (Does that even matter in this case?)

Update - looks like the engine has a good chance of being okay!

We performed a compression test, inspected the oil, and inspection of what we could see in the upper engine. There was a little oil/water sludge on the oil cap which is concerning, but from the limited amount we could see under the cap everything else in the upper drive train appears normal and we did not see any other sludge build-up. When we drained the oil (there was recently added oil & several extra quarts in the system) there were no apparent signs of water contamination. It has been our experience with other vehicles introduced to water that there are more obvious signs in the oil / oiling system.

However, because we did find considerable water in the intake system, the next step is to sit down and go over our findings with Laww. Weighing all the options we'll crate a game plan and proceed from there - and we want to make sure the hood, etc. is addressed so that this doesn't happen again.

It may take a little longer than anticipated but we'll have some impressive numbers to post on Laww's car soon.
