help! car won't start
took my car to the body shop to install a rear spoiler and got a call today from the shop telling me everything is done but the car wont start. he tells me after he disconnected the battery to weld some holes shut and afterward it wont start. help!!! also do you all think it's my responsibility to get the car started or is it the shop owner?
if u brought the car there and it works perfectly fine then its there fault
thanks, that's my thinking also.
can you let us know where you went so we dont. lol
Your shop is plain retarded. Anyone who would disconnect the battery to install a spoiler gets a "Dee dee dee" from me.

1) do the electronics work? 2) can you hear it turn over? 3) can you hear the fuel pump engaged when you turn the key? 4) have they tried using another battery to jump it? these car systems are so complex.. it could be anything from dead battery.. blown fuse.. immobilizer key issue, altenator, blown fuseable link.. need more info |
Screw up the Split Second Box which is in the area and has output wires that are spliced into the ECU (crank sensor, cam sensors,)??
If the shop did something unreasonable to make the car not start then it would be on them. If they simply disconnected the battery (a common practice among shops for safety) I don't see how you can hold them responsible. There are so many things that could go wrong, espeically on a modified car that it would be impossible for anyone to tell you whats wrong with it.
Follow Doug's advice and get some more info on exactly what the car will and won't do, then maybe some more informed help can be given. |
initial trip to the shop was to remove oem spoiler and intall a spoiler that turn out looking like sh*t. the install job was horrible and they scratched my trunk area badly but the owner had agreed to re-spray the entire trunk so I figured since he's re-spraying anyways I purchase a new spoiler from350z source(daytona, which looks awesome by the way) and have them install it. the owner told me he would weld the holes that had been made for the aftermarket spoiler and than re-paint it.... so the car basically cranks but will not turn over..all electronics seems normal, checked all fuses and there all fine, I even disconected my hks dli II and reinstall original harness to ignition thinking they may have burnt the ingnition amplifier but did the same.

Can you hear the fuel pump prime?
sorry, I don't know what that sounds like. I can just hear the starter cranking, and another weird thing is the fan turns on as soon as I turn the ignition on
As soon as the key is turned to the 'ON' position you should hear a buzzing sound coming from the back of the vehicle for about 1-2s. This is the fuel pump priming (building pressure).
Any check engine light? That is odd that the fans are coming on, have you checked to make sure that the coolent sensor didn't come unpluged? |
thanks, I'll check that, I do have a cel but it's been on forever because of my test pipes.
Read the codes and see if anything new has been added. Thats the problem with people 'living' with codes. You could have had a minor issue over the past X amount of miles that has led to this, and you wouldn't have known it, because you already have a CEL. I have test pipes and no CELs! :)
really? which one do you have? I bought some bogus weapon-r cel deletes but yeah they don't work.
I have the APS test pipes.
