Anyone with new Borla pics yet?
Does anyone have pics of the new Borla system yet?
|
I am going out on a limb here: We probably won't see pictures of the new system until the first shipments start arriving per customer order. I have one of the first on order with Borla, supposed to be here in about 2 weeks. I will have lots of pics, sound, and video as soon as mine is installed.

Here is a drawing of the headers from the installation instructions:

Any hp numbers on the Borla headers?
|
Are we able to access the headers from underneath
|
Yes, the whole install is done from under the car. Not really jack stand friendly..
|
Hmmmm...
I sure hope the photos reveal a different design than what we're seeing in these sketches. That design won't yield much more than stock... totally unequal length piping, etc... Isn't going to work guys. |
Yeah, it was also nice to give a diagram that shows where the bends are and how to reconstruct. I wonder if they realized that? I am sure the final product is mandrel bent . . .the price is cheap, but the design shows why.
|
Yeah, I agree. I was hoping they would be equal-length, something much closer to Dougs. I wouldn't put it past Borla to do the same thing with the Headers they did with their first exhaust. Unequal-length now and a few months later, equal-length without any indication they were in the works.

I just got the install instruction for the Borla dual exhaust and the pictures show a system that is a little different than what I was hoping for. The system uses 2 pipes from the catalytic converter back but they feed into a single muffler, one pipe entering from each side. From the back it looks very stock with the muffler in the same position. I was hoping for something that looked a little more like the Greddy prototype photos.

I also had Borla fax me the install papers for the new dual catback system just for the pics. I think the single muffler in the rear Borla is using (kina like our stock 350Z muffler) might be split into 2 sections or maybe just very high flow. In a way Im glad Borla used the single muffler so we dont have a large open space that acts like a parachute slowing us down at higher speeds.

This isnt going to help any of you guys out because I dont have the means of putting this up from my office, besides the fax quality is very poor. I had Borla fax the intallation instructions for the new exhaust. I for one think it looks promising. The pipes are very straight through, but they do enter ONE muffler at the rear of the car. At first this might seem bad, but looking at it more closely the pipes enter on opposite sides. The way it deletes the factory y connection is great. You probably all hate me for this bc you can't see pics!

Phat!!! I wonder how it would sound without the center resonators. Then again, I wonder how it sounds!
|
I would imagine it gets raspy without the resonators. Borla is know for their aggressive sound so I think if they could have done without them they would. I bet it is gonna sound soooo good! Zaphod, you've got one on order too huh?
