Normal for AT to slip when cold? :\
Yesterday, I got into my car, it came out of the garage just fine. Then when I had reversed it and put it in D to park it parallel to the garage door so I could load in some stuff...the transmission slipped big time. The car just stood still, I gave it a wee bit of gas and then the car jerked forward - it was fine the rest of the day.
It happened just now again, the same thing. It came out of the garage just fine, but when I had reversed and put it in D again, it did the same thing. And I'm not dropping it into D while the car is moving backward or anything. Could it just be from the cold? It was extremely cold yesterday, and not much better today. I'm a little worried, it's a 2006 with only 11k on it. :\ Our FX has done something similar too - where if you put it in drive shortly after starting it, it'll jerk forward. I suppose it'd be best to let the car warm up just a bit? |
Mines been doing the same thing. Only when I jump into the car though. Once my car is running for a bit, I'm good to go.

But it doesn't get cold in Vegas. =(

It's low 30s at 6AM when I leave for work.
What is it, like 10s in the morning for you? |
Yeah, should have gotten the MT maaaaan. MT is...well mandatory for a sports car. Well, thats just my take on it.
|
:icon22: I'll just increase my boost for lack of 'sports car-ness'. Jackass

haha! nicely worded stan!

Well, I am running 275s tires all around.. Isn't that width like truck size? Hmm, maybe I'll start saying I drive a custom Frontier No cab/No Bed vert.

I'm at like 25K or so miles now. The only thing is, I no longer have the lines running from the tranny to the radiator. I replaced the stock radiator and have a auxilary tranny cooler now. I'm thinking mine is taking longer to warm up because it no longer has the ambient warmth from the radiator. Check the fluid level too just in case.

^Change your sig, quick. haha

Study your FSM and note that the ATF is not to be abused until the fluid warms to 176F about 10 minutes after cranking in cold weather.
There is an internal temp sensors that tries to modify pressures when ATF is cold say 50F until warm up but below that you are ATF viscosity limited. Abuse the tranny enough and see how soon after warranty you get to pay $4500 for a replacement. |
