Dyno results...

We had a mobile dyno at a mini meet today. I had them dyno my car just for the fun of it. I'm not sure that it is real accurate. I know it needs a tune, but I don't trust anyone here to do it. I'm not sure what kind of dyno it was. I emailed the owner and I'm waiting for a reply. It was about 60 F today. My mods are in my sig. Anyway here is the results.

The curve doesn't look quite right.

It goes to 7.5K RPM. Do you have any kind of reflash?

The curve also drops off ~75HP from the peak as it approaches redline. It shouldn't do that even with a reflash to a higher redline cut.

Any ideas?

TheBlackPearlZ 01-06-2008 04:42 AM

someone tuned him wrong

App6MT 01-06-2008 06:35 AM

Yeah his AFR hits 12 at 7K, that's extremely rich for NA. What year is your car?

hershell 01-06-2008 11:18 AM

It's a 2006. It has never been tuned. I have a MREV2 and 5/16 spacer Injen CAI and Injen exhaust. I wanted to get a few more engine mods before I had it tuned. I plan on adding a Turbo XS UTEC when I get it tuned. I'm thinking of a adding a 100 shot until I can get a turbo.

06 and its runnin to 7500 with no reflash? bogus dyno chart? go hit up the nearest dynojet...put our minds at ease

Hydrazine 01-06-2008 12:15 PM

How did it rev to 7.5K?

It shouldn't do that unless you have a reflash or if there was some kind of dyno anomoly.

hershell 01-06-2008 01:49 PM

It looks like they hit the rev limiter and hit went to 7300 rpm.. I don't know the lady doing the paper work asked me what it redlined at and I tole her 7k she asked where I wanted them to stop it at and I told her the light was set at 6800. Maybe she put the redline in the computer as 7500 and the driver stopped it at 6300. I have no clue. I was real surprised when I seen those numbers I was thinking 240ish myself.

I don't know how the dyno knows what rpm the engine is at.

ke0ki2k 01-06-2008 02:42 PM

might be what you get for going to "country boy" speed and custom lol...drive to A-town..let Sharif dyno it and maybe tinker with your ECU a bit.

hershell 01-06-2008 03:11 PM

I plan on going to forged in the near future. They are 4 hrs away and my time is very limited right now due to work. I want to go FI soon, but I may just do a 100 shot and a tune for now. Either way it looks like I need a tune. I sent another email and asked what was up with the numbers. I know Country Boys sound redneck as hell, but it was a husban and wife deal both were pilots here on Ft Rucker. He is a IP and she is Flat Iron pilot. After talking with them I felt ok with putting my car on their dyno. I guess flying and running a dyno are a little different. LOL

baby_ruiner 01-06-2008 03:14 PM

what type of dyno? the graph does look starge

hershell 01-06-2008 03:16 PM

I'm not sure what kind of dyno it was. I emailed the owner and I'm waiting for a reply.

hershell 01-06-2008 05:59 PM

Ok here is the email reply;

The dyno we use is a Dynocom system. As far as the chart goes, we used a program on the dyno that allows us to watch the tachometer with in the car. We then tell the dyno program where we will start and stop the run as far as RPM goes. Now with the additional 300 RPM, that is the data that is still coming in when we shut the data/dyno pull down...it takes about a second for data to both start and stop. This data is a time reading not a hard RPM reading. We see this with all of the pulls we do unless we are directly tuning and have an optical reader set-up. Please note on your chart where the peek of your pull was made and just short of 7000 RPM, you can see the decrease in HP which is where we began the procedure to stop the run.
If you have any other questions please feel free to send them my way. I hope this clears things up.
Thanks again for your participation during Saturdays event.

Whack dyno, never heard of it. You could use it for a baseline then after mods+tuning but you dont have a baseline, so you basically wasted your money. Your no where near that on a DJ

singh 01-06-2008 08:47 PM

If you have no baseline, then what are you trying to prove? Your numbers are worthless.

Go to the track and trap some quarter mile times. That's all that matters. :)

hershell 01-06-2008 09:04 PM

^^ I'm not trying to prove anything. You must not have read post number 1.
where I said "We had a mobile dyno at a mini meet today. I had them dyno my car just for the fun of it." I don't want to go to the track. I don't drive around the track to get where I'm going. So IMO the track times are worthless. I just wanted to see what kind of power the car is making with the few bolt ons that I have. I have a pretty good idea of what a stock 06 makes. It was the first time I have had a chance to see, it was only $70 so I did it. As far as you asking me what I have to prove. you can go fu...CK yourself. IF you could read you could see that.

str8dum1 01-07-2008 04:13 AM

well from that dyno, you can tell you are making more power than stock. how much more? who knows. i wouldnt go telling people that you make 270+ hp though :)

genegoesfast 01-07-2008 04:21 AM

looks like they had smoothing turned WAY up....it's way to curvy

Hydrazine 01-07-2008 05:45 AM

If you were able to see how you compared to the other cars at the meet that would greatly increase the value of your results.

At least you will know where you stand relative to all the others.

hershell 01-07-2008 11:16 AM

Well the good thing for me is I know for sure now I need a tune. The A/F is to rich up top and a little lean down low. It was worth the money to find that out. I'm 4 hr easy from a good tuner with a dyno. Now I now my 4 hour drive is not wasted. I know I'm not making 272whp.
