purge valve solenoid where at?
 

ok guys i need to find where on the car is the PURGE VALVE SOLENOID? i got a code telling me it is bad (its staying open) so does any one know where and also what it looks like, im going to try and replace it my self. thanks

What code are you getting, P0444/P0445?

If so, the PVCSV is mounted on a small bracket on the rear of the stock plenum (next to the elbow). Has the EVAP line running to it through the fuel damper bracket, and a vac line to the back of the elbow.

i got P0444 do u think this is something any one can replace or should i leave it to the experts$$$$:icon38:

It's on the back on the intake manifold to the left of the throttle body. Anyone with basic knowledge of cars should be able to handle it.

Very simple... extremely simple actually: just plug it in under the dash, turn the ignition to the ON position (while keeping the MOTOR OFF), and vwolla!
is that the same thing? I checked the hose sticking out of the left side of the throttle body, and didn't notice anything loose. Where is "Valve C" located? :(

OK, I found the diagnostic test for code P0444 in the 350Z Manual. It can be found on pages EC-358 through EC-363. It's hard for me to make out what exactly to do once I get passed step 1 of the diagnostic procedure which begins on page EC-362. The instructions assume I understand the wiring diagram (but I don't :( becut I stoopid:icon11: ).

But based on what I can deduce, there is no voltage running thru the solenoid. I need to test the harness and the solenoid for voltage continuity. The scanner I rented said there is an open circuit condition (not an open valve). I need to make sure my car is evaporating fuel correctly. Has anyone done this before or is this because I have Nismo CAI. I doubt that because I've had the CAI since October.

Nissan quoted me at over $100 for just the diagnostic, even though I told them what the code was, and another $300-something for the fix based on the code I gave them. The purge valve solenoid only costs ~$60, so I just bought one instead. It will arrive on Saturday, and be installed with the quickness (only 1 10mm bolt is holding the valve, it is hooked up to two hoses - in and out). Will post results when I have them.

Hmmm.. the replacement purge valve solenoid did not have an alodine sheath like the original one. But they both say Nissan, and display the same part number. Guess Nissan figured they didn't need the added cost of alodine for something that probably won't get rusted or ever see water.
Replaced the part. Took the OBDII computer about 60 miles worth of driving to finally shut off the SES. I didn't even have to reset or clear the code manually!
