Nismo Diff Cover question

I was looking into doing a custom diff cooler from my Nismo diff cover. I already sourced all the parts and have and have an idea how much it will cost. My qustion is what size connector or NPT fitting would bolt into the drain/fill plug on the Nismo cover. I searched and saw the ARC setup rickdogg dig but haven't heard from him. Guess he's not on here that often. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Nobody knows?

iStan 05-06-2009 11:29 AM

Try pming rick again. He's always on here. He might just have missed it.

Rickdogg 05-06-2009 11:34 AM

Sorry for not replying quickly to your pm. My pm box has been pretty filled as of late and I just respond to the pm's that need immediate attention. All of the fittings on most of the kit were 6AN size including the diff cover location.

jaminkid 05-06-2009 11:39 AM

Ok. Thanks rickdogg. I was planning on using 8 AN bcuz the pump reccomended that size hose. I appreciate ur response.

bbs350z 05-06-2009 11:38 PM

please explain to me this custom setup. might replicate this when your done, and please please please...diy it, i have spare coolers laying around i gotta put to use

jaminkid 05-07-2009 05:28 AM

Yeah I will post everything up a the parts come in. It's not the hard. Only difficult thing would be to find the perfect location, height from the ground and protection from debri.

Update: was busy installing my PL kit. But I got the last two fittings today. I did some pre measuring and mounting already will post some pics and my shopping list later.

Parts I ordered:
(1) EAR-184004ERL ASSEMBLY LUBE
(1) EAR-230308ERL -8 OIL FILTER
(1) EAR-41008ERL OIL COOLER -8AN FTGS
(4) SUM-220846 8AN TO 3/8 NPT ADAPTER (to diff & oil filter)
(1) SUM-220886 -08 45 SWIVEL HOSE END (to drain hole)
(3) SUM-220887 -08 90 SWIVEL HOSE END (to fill hole & oil cooler)
(4) SUM-220890 8AN HOSE END STRAIGHT (to pump and filter)
(1) TIL-40-524 OIL COOLER PUMP
(1) SUM-230810 S.S. BRAIDED HOSE-8 10FT

-NISMO Diff Cover (already had installed)
-Replacement Diff Fluid of your choice. I will used Motul 90PA.
-Allen wrench to pull bolts from diff cover.
-AN tools, if you have them
-Brackets, bolts, steel mesh etc whatever you need to custom make your cooler bracket and get it
installed in the perfect location and have it protected.
- Tool to cut the hose neatly

Few things I kept it mind:
(1) There is not enough room to install a big cooler. Went with decent size, especially being lowered
(2) Protection from debri. (rocks, diapers, road kill)
(3) Position that it can be seen from there rear (not too hidden) and can get airflow
(4) Not to use too much hose. More hose, bigger cooler, more fluid.
(5) Location. Angle
(6) How and where to position the pump
(7) On/Off swith with inline fuse (where to mount)

Not the grande finale yet. I set it up, took a few pics, then took it apart for more pics. Overall, I think it was simple to do. I used a dremel and cutting wheel to cut the hose and Earl's grease for the hose/fittings. What do you think? Any comments?....

Keep it or go back the drawing board??

Looks good, whats the total cost?

2boosted4u 05-18-2009 10:05 PM

sooooo im just wondering what the hell you need to cool the rear end off so bad....i mean unless you just drive around doin a burn out the whole time...looks good tho just dont hit anything on the road or that b!tch is gone

jaminkid 05-19-2009 06:39 AM

thanks. It's not done yet. I thinking it's hanging kinda low. And yes. I do alot of burn outs. Plus I now have the PL kit. I just had $500 laying around so I figured fack it...spend it on something else...

2boosted4u 05-19-2009 10:32 AM

nice job and attention to detail just becarefuly on those speed bumps lol

jaminkid 05-19-2009 11:17 AM

thanks!! I'm more worried about the road kill on these PA streets than speedbumps.

bbs350z 05-23-2009 12:15 PM

your setup is intended for a single exhaust i presume. for the dual guys, is there a place to mount it higher (too lazy to look at my car lol)

+1 on speedbumps, my exhaist scrapes sometimes, this thing would be toast at that height lol

Any feedback on how it worked? Get enough flow to the heat exchanger?
