A/T tranny failure!
Just wanted to know if anyone has ever experienced this?
My A/T started grinding and slipping last night. I lost some hp and the car has become less responsive. The moment i shift to "D" the tranny starts vibrating and the grinding noise becomes louder. Starting from a dig feels like im driving my civic. Prior to this, I had jerky shifting from 1-2 and delayed+slippery shifting from 3-4. What do you think went wrong? is it just the clutch? did i break any gear? This guy from a A/T specialty garage quoted me 1400 to 2700USD to get it overhauled. He will also upgrade all clutch which can handle turbo setups and offered me 3months warranty. Before i grab this offer, i would like to know what do you guys think... thanks much!!! |
Sounds like you had AT tranny failure.
If it felt wrong why did you keep beating on it? These AT's are brutes, the fluid was probly low. |

Its a hell of a coincidence that you flushed it a month ago and now it failed. I bet it was low.

^I see.... Then i shall double check that when i get home :)

There is a specific method for checking the AT fluid level based on temperature of the fluid while the car is running. Check the FSM. I also feel that there is a good chance you have been running with low ATF levels, which caused your clutch packs to burn out.

You need either a rebuilt or new transmission. Or one from a 350Z with low miles.
|
Not good. Same thing happened to my Z.
If the fluid is low you did some damage to the tranny. Is the tranny starting to have that loud whine almost like a supercharger? |
this must be a troll thread, he lives in dubai, obviously he drives something 10x more expensive then a Z ! : )
|
Might as well get rebuilt and upgraded, and throw on VB upgrade while your at it.
Thats what i would do... |
thanks for the feedback guys!

By the time I found a proper parking, the gear was sounding like a supercharger. I took it to a garage to flush the whole system. After that, the tranny seemed ok. There must have been already damage and it just kept getting worse. . . so basically it's just what u guys suspected - low on atf... you are right could this have broken any gears? im hoping the tranny rebuild kit will fix this? @ exZilaration - when you built your tranny did you have to do the full rebuilt kit? how much do these things really cost? oh and BTW Entaille.. No. I don't own Lambo's and stuff.. i'm just one of those peasants who are trying to make a living in dubai. :icon38: |
350zdj my warranty covered it.
