Default New Owner/ what to do first ????

i just recently got a 350Z.
it had already exterior things done to the car, the previous owner put in a nice set of wheels 20x10 in the back and 20x8.5 in the front, carbon fiber hood, new convertible top, remove the CAT. So far i have only done cosmetic stuff to my Z by adding the 370 side blinkers, and painting my badges Flat black to match the hood, and soon ill be doing the door handles.

i think the car sounds good but is just a bit too quiet sometimes, when cruising around you cant hear the engine at all.
trying to stick to a less than $700 budget for now.
i saw a couple of post on ebay that where selling Megan Racing Headers, Y Pipe, and down pipe for $500... are they any good ?

from my experience with my V6 Accord the headers and removing the cat, definitively changed the sound of the exhaust, to a much deeper sounding car. hoping the same will happen to the Z?

any suggestions?

Thanks,

Oh boy... You're not going to get very far with only $700.

Fix your leaking hood first.

Post a pic in here. I'm not a fan of the painted logos, looks ghetto; shave them...

intake will change sound of engine, CAI is more for noise than performance but thats with any NA car. im also new to the Z world and ive done AEM cold air intake(not much gains, little better responce and great sound lol short ram with heat shield is the way to go or popcharger),Berk Test pipes, Invidia Gemini Cat-back exhause (love the deep growl to the engine and new exhaust) and a COBB Tune. i havent done much cosmetic but im wanting a CF hatch because the hood actually weighs about the same as a CF hood, heat dissapation from engine and looks is all CF hood is for on the Z. deff check out the Invidia Gemnini Exhaust i got mine for about $800 on JBautosports.com and my berk test pipes were $160 in importpartspro.com. you can do 5/16 plenum spacer for a little extra gains, headers will sound good but you get what you pay for when i comes to parts like that.... you know what they say you gotta pay to play, unfortunatley parts for the Z are not as cheap for the common ricer civic. but a stock Z will smash most modded out NA civics

I started with custom dual Magnaflow race exhaust, and a k&n aircharger intake. Sounds very good coupled and gave my Z a little more pep.

Lower it, wheels, exhaust, then intake. Anything else can wait.

Exhaust CAI HFC's or any bolt on for that matter won't help your performance unless you get some kind of tune or reflash....which is less than 700....best bang for your buck.
If sound is all your going for....bolt away....don't go ebay. Check the marketplace here. There's a lot of higher quality used good condition setups listed on there for what you're looking to spend.

i probably wont have much to invest on the car till november, i just wanted to get a little deeper sounding exhaust on it.

OK:

Remove silly grill
Get a front lip
You'll need more for the exhaust depending on ur style. If you don't give a fawk then ebay has plenty of crap for $700
BTW nice vert i been looking for a change myself!

Before you do anything drive it more. The z isnt a slow car stock, learn how to drive it like a boss and then decided what you want
