Pretty much narrowed my search down to two options for the engine.

-LS2 with LS3 heads, nice TQ curve cam, couple other small mods, shoot for about 475rwhp N/A

-LQ9 completely built from the forged crank up, blletproof'd for 900rwhp daily, PT 76mm 1200 hp turbo, all te bells and whistles, and shoot for about 800 rwhp boosted.

The tranny will be a T56, stage 3, fresh rebuild.
Sikky everything.

The price difference between the two setups (not including piping on the turbo or EMS on either) is only about 3k, shockingly. Which is why I'm obviously leaning towards the iron block with turbo.

It's ridiculous that a full on LS2 with the parts I want will be about 9k assembled and ready for the final fitment and stuff, and the quote I got on the laundry list of the LQ9 and supporting mods is around 12k.

Will start a tear-down and build-up thread shortly. Got some pics of the damaged built VQ, thank God the block is unhurt! will have a lot of stuff F/S

Is that LQ9 price with heads and an intake manifold? Seems darn high considering a good rotating assembly is only $3-$3.5k for parts. Including bearings.

me thinks most of the cost difference is in the engine itself, the ls series are expensive while a complete lq9 can be had for about 200 bucks from some place like cleveland pick a part or someplace similar. add in another 100 bucks for the wiring harness and ecu you just have to pull everything out youself.

I mean $300 from pull apart for an engine that has to be completely reconditioned isn't bad, it just means a crap load of time, effort, and money (and shipping charges) will be had to get that engine to the state of the engine I could just buy like this. Do you think that going the manual route, adding all the time and *ahem* personal effort (lol) will really be worth some sort of savings? Nearly everyone I mention this LQ9 deal to is like.... wow good deal.
If I'm wrong, let me know....

The long and the short of it is this: I'm never going to run a stock LQ9. It's either the LQ9 built up insanely for boost, or the LS2 setup for N/A

This is sick man! Definitely make a thread, I will follow. This is exactly what I had planned to do one day.

P.S. Once you decide what you're selling shoot me a PM. I may be interested in some of the turbo stuff if it's all still intact. Also let me know on the exhaust.

Good choice. You're going to absolutely need them. I can spin 315/35/18 Mickey Thompson ET Streets fairly easy unless I lower them to 18psi.

I believe it man. I was spinning in 3rd twice, at shift and at peak boost, with 285 Falkens on my last VQ setup.
I'm a tires and suspension guy for sure. It's my last few setups that have people thinking I <3 hp (I mean I do too)
I raced a full pro season on an open differential on purpose, to learn more about how my tires perform, and how to modulate the throttle. Probably for the same reason I have a lot of tattoos, pain thrills lol

I just got a PM from someone offering me their clutch/flywheel setup for my "new" engine/tranny setup. Only thing is, it was a 2-puck Nismo clutch. Doubt that works with a T56 tranny and 800rwhp. Anyone?
had to share the lol

Awesome. I've only heard good reviews on them. If they are not sticky enough, I will just use Hoosier S04's

oh no dont get me wrong its a good deal i just ment for 200 bucks you can get a complete engine, whereas you would have to spend 5-10 times that for the ls engine, thats a large part of the cost savings in ls vs lq and why the lq engines are cheaper. the stock lq intake also happens to flow alot better then the stock ls, even better then the ls6 intake even due to the higher height allowing better geometry into the ports. you are definatly getting a good deal, and if it dosnt work out with the vq for me ill probably run a stock 5.3 with turbos for awhile im hoping the vq works out though.
