Is it possible to mate a Z trans to a 2jz? I think it would hold the power as it has proven to do on a vq. And MUCH cheaper to get.
ok thanx :)

id be concerned about the input shaft size, length, # of teeth, etc. im sure it could be done given the right amount of time/money invested.
I was thinking about it because if possible and if it could be done for under just say $2,000. It might be worth it as a used 6 speed Getrag goes for more than $2,000-3,000 easy. ( Just saw one for sale for $4,xxx Low Mileage) How much more "reliable" will a Getrag be over a 350z Trans(I'll go with CD 009) at high power / torque. 800-1,000whp with a 2JZ for the most part will only see 600-700 MAYBE 800wtq. For the price difference, if possible, I feel a 350z Trans (Example: CD 009) will do the job perfect holding that power/torque. With using a Z trans, it might be possible to keep the Z Driveshaft then as well. Going on if the Trans didn't have to be moved forward or back. |

Time and money anything can be done, of course.

What are you gonna do about the tachometer?
any engine's mounting problem?
swap looks awesome so far man, keep up the great work. very interested to see the finished product
Looks so damn good
havnt really thought about the Tach yet....but mounting the motor all went well, looks to have even better ground clearance then the VQ did (big deal for me due to how low the car sets) but we are looking into maybe raising the motor about an inch just because of how low it looks when you pop the hood....
^^ smart man..... Well I am going to be running the Stack ST8130 display gauge for my LS motor. This will make life so much easier, for me that is...
if the mounting no problem to plant 2jz. i will follow you as my idol. in my country, the tax of vq35 is so expensive and i cant modified the engine's mounting. that's why i keep looking for all demo about 350z 2jz or 350z rb26. finally i got you.

as for the price on the Mounts, they are not solid, they have a poly bushing, and they are $850.00 shipped (made to order, so a three day delay before they are shipped) |
Hey guys (and maybe gals??), Stance monkeys has been hanging out in the Shifted Performance shop doing all the pics and also writing articles on the build as its been going on...they just finished up their third writup on the build and it is now up on www.stancemonkeys.com!
The new article gets into a few of the reasons that the Shifted Performance kit is such a good kit for the price and for those who need a kit that doesnt interfere with the stock subframe (Formula D for one) Check it out! either way...it has more pics then i have put on here haha |
Amazing can't wait to see a video of this beast.
