Another oil temp sensor question - Tap the sandwich plate or add another?
So I purchased the Z1 oil cooler kit which came with a Mocal thermostatic sandwich plate with two 1/2" parallel ports.
I also purchased an oil temp gauge and was wondering how to install it:
Option 1: Wondering if it was ok to drill and tap the sandwich plate? It's pretty tight but my buddy (who tapped his sandwich plate on his stillen oil cooler) and I think the sensor might fit inside.
But I'm also a little concerned since it's aluminum, will it expand/contract and cause leaks/pressure loss?
Option 2: Or would it be better to just put the another sandwich plate in between with fittings already pre-tapped like this guy:

My concern with the additional sandwich plate is that you're pushing the filter out even more, thus creating a longer moment arm (kinda like a cantilever beam) which means more bending at the original filter attachment point. Which for a car that's accelerating and braking a lot will create many cyclic loads and eventually break?

do you have a pan spacer? if you do place it there. or since you have an oil cooler how about cutting the line and adding a T for the sensor, if your not confident to do that yourself(that kit comes with stainless lines right?) the buy the extra fittings and take it to a shop to do it. or i believe theres a couple spots on the back of the engine that i believe both sashas kit and sts kit uses, better to ask sasha on that though since im still a few weeks from coming home plus 3-4 weeks after that to start my project due to turn around time at the machine shop.
