Need advice! Clutch

I just had the chance to a drivers course on Watkins Glen International in Upstate NY. It was a two day course with the BMW club. My '03 350z handled awesome on the track and the instructor was impressed on how stable the car was. It's lowered about a inch, has a pop charger and a Nismo exhaust. I got quite a few comments on the exhaust which was cool.

It died on me though on the second to last session of eight sessions. Here is then chain of events. I was coming off a long straight shifting down from 5th to 4th. The car made a pop or a bang not loud but the instructor commented on a noise. My clutch pedal went to the floor. I stopped the car and noticed the clutch pedal was still on the floor. It stays on the floor unless you pull it up. There was no fluid underneath the car. After we were towed off the track I had help and checked things over.

There is fluid in the reservoir, no leaks. The pedal linkages are working fine. The transmission goes into gear like normal. When I start the car, there is a rattle that comes from the clutch area that seems to go and come with the pedal movement but is always there and it will not engage into gear. My thoughts are the clutch went. It is the stock clutch with 97,000miles. Any thoughts from anyone else??

This happened to me, maybe about a month ago.
The clutch fork was broken for me, it could also be the clutch master cylinder.

That's what you need. Had the same thing happen earlier in the year

Sounds like the clutch fork pivot ball might have snapped or you broke the clutch disk. If your car is an 03 I would definitely recommend you upgrade to our Cast Iron clutch fork kit while you're in there, These come with a much stronger pivot ball also.

The 03 came with a stamped steel clutch fork which flexes and causes incomplete clutch disengagement wearing synchronizes out.

At 97K, I would change the clutch also if you have to pull the trans.

Thanks guys! I will check those both out and probably replace both.
