Hello I recently bought a kinetix v+ manifold and I installed it put my car back together and now when I turn it on i hear a loud squeal kind of like a belt would make . I was curious if anyone had this problem and what could fix it

I was thinking about tightening the bolts more but I didn't wanna break the piece if it could be something else . Any help would be Appreciated

Thank you
Tony

Ps. Please don't bash me for not doing a spacer

Sounds like a vacuum leak.Check all the hoses and connections. It also may
be a gasket leak.Did you torque the bolts to the correct specs and in the
proper order?I've found the old school way in locating a noise such as this
is to take a piece of hose...coolant,old part of a garden hose will do.You need
about 3 ft.Put one end to your good ear(one of mine is not so good due to
playing in a rock band for 15 yrs)and move the hose around to all the areas
of the manifold&connections. You should be able to locate the source of
the squeal.Sure sounds like a air leak.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't use my torque wrench because I didn't have the correct size socket for it and the instructions recommended it but said it wasn't absolutely needed. That is why I am possibly thinking it is not tight enough, a trip to home depot for the correct adapter may be in line tonight after work.

Just to get what you are saying is correct I would just take a hose stick it in one of my ears and go around all the bolts and hoses and I should hear a noticeable air leak? I didn't know about this trick so thank you, I will try that as well.

Leaving the car on during testing won't hurt anything will it? after I heard the noise I didn't want to run it for too long but I knew a video would be the best way to ask for help so i sucked it up and let it run for 10 seconds.

Also the car sounded great the first time I started the car until i rev'd the engine 2k RPM and then the squeal came and didn't go away.

I'm thinking air leak as well but I want to include all the information I have

Thank you for the reply!

it's the plastic one if I'm correct, right.. just a piece of trash!!! I bought it too, waist of money.. you need you tight the bolts more, but if you do it too much it's gonna crack.. good luck man.

Yeah its the plastic one, I would of loved to get the 800 dollar chrome one but moneys not there.

You had the same problem I am assuming with the leaking air?

Leaving the car running while looking for the suspected leak won't hurt
anything. How are you gonna find the possible leak unless you leave the car running?lol
I sure would be careful when tightening those bolts. If you get a crack
its gonna be a problem.I'd think it would be fixable though.
This is a NEW manifold, right? Not used.

Cass007 05-30-2013 09:07 AM

Spray the gasket around it with some water from a spray bottle while the car is running and look for bubbles. If you see bubbles then there is the leak. You can also see if a local shop has a smoke tester, but it will cost a few bucks.

The manifold is brand new . I was thinking about the water idea like you would use to find a leak on a tire but I don't want any water to be sucked into the engine so I'm hesitant on that idea .

yeah but mine was way too loud since I have Vortech sc on it...

Tonescapes 05-30-2013 10:03 AM

Vortech, nice set up.

I been with the same girl for 5 years so if I blow 6k on a supercharger and not a engagement ring it will probably be my head lol.

I went home on my lunch break and instead of eating I ripped the strut bar off as well as the engine cover and tightened all the bolts. It seemed to do the trick and quite the engine down.

I want to thank everyone for their advice .

Same issue again? I don't like that, once it gives me the issue once I will use some Loctite on the bolts and if it happens again, Ebay.

Good luck at the strip
