Can't find fan that will work with my build please help!
Ok I'm currently in the middle of upgrading my cooling systems. I have a 05 roadster with a vortech v2 kit. It's all tuned and I ran it all summer with no issues. It's 400 whp and 320 tq just for anyone curious! I'm planning on pushing about 3 more lbs of boost this year and wanted to make sure everything stays cool. I got an oil cooler and trans cooler that I just installed. Thermostatic mishimoto oil cooler and mishimoto transmission cooler with fan. Also pulled the ac system pump and condenser. Installing a kayo r series radiator part number R2577 that is way thicker than stock. I believe it's 53mm. With it installed and the stock fans back in my vortech charge pipe that runs in front of motor doesn't have enough room. It just hits the pulleys. So been looking for fans and they all seen to be around 3.5 inches thick still not allowing room for pipe. So wondering what fans you guys have used or are using or if I should put a v series radiator that's not as thick? Just trying to find a solution! Lol thanks for any input!

You'll need some slimline fans...I used to use this setup:
https://www.flex-a-lite.com/dual-12-...ctric-fan.html Smaller than the WxH that the radiator, but the best thing I could find to fit a 53mm radiator without doing a custom fan setup... |
I bought a cheap setup on ebay....just for the shroud. Going to put a 14" and 12" Spal fans. Have not wired it just yet but there are some threads around about this.

Plenty of options...
Don't over-value cooling fans...they are intended to pull air through the radiator at speeds below 25mph. Passive air does the majority of the cooling at speeds over 30mph. I'm not saying you don't need at least one fan but it's my opinion that you could get away with an 8" fan placed (ideally) as close to the 'in' pipe as possible and you'd be fine. In reality, you'd want as small of a fan you could get away with as the fan/shroud block passive air during speeds greater than 25mph. I run a single 16" spal on an aftermarket radiator and around 205 it kicks on and cools the engine down to 180 pretty quick...and this is with the car not moving. |
Another member installed the 53-mm R2577 in a supercharged car successfully, Link to thread ...
