Question Doing valve covers, have some questions

2003 350Z, at around 93K miles. Went to do spark plugs found tube full of oil (driver side, rear one). Most others are dry, one with some oil (a bit) on passenger side, doing both covers.

I sent for new valve covers, as I read most everywhere the seals on the cover are not replaceable. But then I ran into this :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spark-Plug-T...NYll86&vxp=mtr

What are they for? Related questions

1. do the tubes come out?
2. is there another seal at the bottom of the tube (around the spark plug)?

I didn't want to yank on them just in case they don't. I would think they should come out... Doing research while the valve covers get here...

Thanks for any/all input.

I found this also : http://rndfactory.com/Web/NISSAN-vc%20kit.html

Thing is their cost is close to the cost of the new valve covers (if you have it done by them). I don't think these are the seals on the Fel-Pro ES 72481, but I could be wrong..

The thing w/ the r&dfactory ones, if you don't drill it out incorrectly, they may leak. Look into maxima and frontier covers, I forget what years exactly. The left side (passenger) fits no problem, the other side fits, but you need to modify it a bit to fit the coil pack harness. They're pretty much the same thing as the Z covers, but half the price.

Nice to see the R&D Factory site back up, as they've been down for a very long time. I wonder what was going on?

So lets share, just because..

In the beginning, the Z developed a miss...

After finding oil in the spark plug tube (a lot of oil, like full), I proceeded with disassembly, air intake, intake manifold, wiring harness, both valve covers, started reinstall, new spark plugs, new covers, replace everything (no extra parts!), even new belts and oil change...

All done, start... the Z has a miss.

So I guess one of the coil packs is bad. Not sure which, so I got all 6 ($90) and they will be here in a couple of days.. hopefully that cures it.

The end. For now..
