New NGK Irridium Plugs Way Off Gap

Hey folks, I bought Qty 6 NGK 4469 LFR5AIX11 Iridium IX Spark Plugs that arrived with no damage at all to the outside of box, they even have the cardboard condom to keep the electrode from getting bent.

Happened to check the gaps and they are way smaller, closer to .035 (.89 mm) than .043 (1.1 mm).

I've seen lots of sources that say you shouldn't need to gap them - Any idea if the gap difference should be fixed or if this is something that has to do with better spark plug technology?

Sorry if it's a stupid question and thanks.

ALWAYS check and gap plugs to spec. Sure, they're "pre-gapped" FOR SOME CARS. The ones that happen to require .035. Honestly don't understand how or why a mfgr would ever make that claim.

I've NEVER gapped my plugs except on my snowmobile(3cylinder 2 stroke, carbed) and I didn't notice any difference (from like .03 to .18)

I typically dont but I do check them ... I was having a weird detonation issue and shrank my gap a bit due to my FI setup ...
