engine/tranny grinding/rubbing while in gear

have an 07 and when im in gear(not shifting) and letting the rpms drop theres a grinding or rubbing noise coming from the bellhousing or engine. i cant tell where exactly its coming from due to having to drive it to hear it, and its hard to get the sound recorded because it gets drowned out by the exhaust and general background noise. i dont have any issues shifting, grinding when going into gear, slipping in gear, but the sounds has slowly become more prominent. i know its very vague but id like to get some opinions before i pull the tranny out and see what the issue is. i also plan on changing the trans fluid in the next few days but i doubt that would fix it. thanks all.

Usually something rubbing on the exhaust, like cats on the heat shield or similar. Unlikely it is anything internal with your trans if it is working fine. Does it happen on decel in every gear? Louder or softer depending on RPM?

its hit and miss on when it happens. sometimes when im creeping in 1st, sometimes when im in 6th and cruising or from about 2.5-3.5k and decel. It's random for the most part.

Well you do have an 07 so your CSC could be an issue, but the bearing isnt actually loaded and spinning when the clutch isnt engaged. Usually clutches and/or flywheel/pressure plate assys dont just go bad without some kind of abuse. I would really check all other options before popping your bellhousing. Could be loose exhaust bolts, rubbing on the crossmember. Change your diff fluid to inspect for debris, check your axles. Wheel bearings. Etc etc etc.
