Default CZP clutch kit. and ISR y pipe and resonated pipes- review.

My recently purchased Z came with a slipping clutch.

I ordered the CZP clutch kit.
https://conceptzperformance.com/czp-...fk_p_27334.php

I ordered with with the "stage 2" disk and the upgraded Koyo Bearing.
it came with a 17lb solid flywheel as well.
It seemed to be a good set up from a known supplier. and priced well.

Since the exhaust was coming off I also ordered a set of ISR resonated test pipes.
https://conceptzperformance.com/isr-...33_p_40377.php

I choose resonated to hopefully reduced the rasp i hear so much about.
they can with J turn o2 extenders to help with CEL.

And the Y pipe was off as well. sooooo ISR Y pipe was ordered.
https://conceptzperformance.com/isr-...-y_p_30780.php

I looked at a dozen brand Y pipes and decided i really liked the merge collector on the ISR piece over just about any other collector.
It would help with flow more than many of the designs i have seen.

Parts all came in and look great.
I wrapped the test pipes with DEI titanium wrap.
then cleared the wrap with DEI flame proof clear paint.
It will help hold the wrap together longer and keep it from shredding or moving or coming loose.
I COATED it heavily and let the paint soak into the fabric.

everything bolted in fine. the drivers side of the Y pipe was a little close the the frame rail . so we dropped it back down and hit the frame with the "bump wrench" a little for clearence.
Nothing was hitting but it had 8-10mm of room and i didnt want a knocking noise over bumps. better safe than sorry.
I also changed the rear gear oil. half redline 75/90. half royal purple 75/90. its what we had on hand.

first start i could barely tell the exhaust was changed. a slight louder initial engine snap/bark when it fires off.
idle is still very quiet.

no noise at idle in nuetral from the new fly wheel.

the exhaust has no rasp or loudness. its still very refined and quiet inside.
its maybee 15% louder than dead stock with no real change in sound or type of noise.

I am getting some rattle from the trans.flywheel taking off.
But i am use to T56 tremecs and racing a gutted miata with no interior. so a bit of trans noise is fine and common to me.
very acceptable.

no comments on performance gains as i need to break the clutch in.
i'll make a review in 200 miles about that.

How was the quality of the hardware included from ISR? sub $200 exhaust components tend to have cheap hardware, specially gaskets that break and bolts that strip very easily. It happened to me with the TOP SPEED brand. Never again cheap stuff like that. Berk, on the other hand was quality fitment. I have Berk on my 350z and G37.

seemed fine. grad 8 bolts. perforated gaskets. odd thing was the bolt heads were 15mm but the nuts were like 7/16 wrench.. kinda weird it was half metric half standard..
I have no exhaust leaks.

The clutch will bark 2nd pretty strongly and will chirp third with a basically stock rev up z.

the exhaust is very quiet. but i like the sound. almost like a Porsche or Ferrari California. Not loud. no rasp.
just a vroom with a bit of grumble . I had not had it pop or gurgle yet as i am used to with my other vehicles not having cats on them. Maybe that is because they are all turboed and have more power?..

No smell with out the cats. and my CEL is on. not related to O2 sensors/cats.

There is some minor take off trans noise now. slight gear noise when taking off in first.
It reminds me of my Terminator Cobra T56 trans noise.
I guess that is normal for removing the dual mass fly wheel. All i can say is good riddance

I did look at the berk Y pipes. I did not like the collector/merger.

^ +1 Im also running ISR Resonated test pipes and y-pipe with a Megan single exit, I can see how some of the hardware could be sort of cheap but im at a 10/10 for exhaust note. But then again i love screaming loud cars lol.

I’m running the megan racing single as well as y pipe currently. How hard was it to get the isr test pipes on? Did they fit good?
