06 350z auto to manual swap
I just bought a 350z for $7k and it only has 28k miles on it which was the reason i bought it. it is, unfortunately, an auto but im looking into manual swapping within the next year or so (if its worth the cost). selling this isnt really an option because 350s in my area usually for around double the price just for a manual. (i was lucky enough to buy it form a family member for cheap). So, that being said it would be helpful it i could get some advice on manual swapping. Thanks!

Come on, bud. Advice? Search. Took all of 3 seconds to come up with all the information you need for the swap.
If you have the money, time, and patience then go for it. You're honestly better off trading for, or selling and buying, a manual. The conversion will cost you a good chunk of change and is going to lower your resale value. |
There's a lot of stigma associated with automatic sports cars, but I like them, so here's my thinking. Maybe see if you can meet up with a local z owner, and see if you can test drive their 6 speed. Or even swing by a used car dealership, and test drive theirs to see if you even like it lol
I don't think it would be financially viable. Early model six speeds are prone to 3rd/5th gear grind, and we just swap in a used CD009 so the used market favors sellers. You could get a decent amount of money selling your low mileage 5 speed, but really... your car only has 28k miles! I'd just maintain it, and enjoy it for years to come. I really don't see why not :) Appendum: stigma is silly. Swap in a six speed, and people will call you slow. Throw in bolt on's, and people will say you should have gone FI (forced induction). Gone FI? Shoulda LS swapped... LS swapped your LS swap? Shoulda bought a jet fighter xD There's always a critic no matter what you do, so enjoy what you have :D |
