The 'I'm sick of CF dashes' dash

yup, woodgrain. have done them before but never had a picture back from the customer. So here is a "before we send it out, never to have a picture of it installed" picture. Before you knock having wood in a car like this, remember even Ferrari used wood dashes in his cars. I know because I have restored a couple. Jag, Aston Martin, they all do it or have done it. I like it for a change.

That makes me want to :icon16:

I love the look of the wood dash. Good Job!

:icon8: Agreed! For some reason I think the Z would look HORRID with "wood style" dash. The Z has to much of a metal look to it, metallic silver and what not, just doesn't look like it would flow well. Maybe in a G35 yeah but 350z... NAH! overall the process you guys did looks good though

2003z Nov 29, 2004 05:53 PM

whether it looks good in the Z or not, you guys do awesome work!

silverstoneTT Nov 29, 2004 06:25 PM

i think the jags and ferraris had more realistic, unshiney wood though.....not sure how thats gonna look.

is it someone from the forums?

The Ferrari's had a low end straight grain walnut and not finished to any high degree. Pretty bad actually, so it was easy to show an improvement to the customer. He was much better with engines. Jags early on used shellac which had to be renewed periodically, then lacquer and then in the late sixties the move to polyester. All were high gloss, or meant to be. Until Ford forced an improvement, they were horrendously bad. The wood would turn green and crack sitting on the dealer lot.
No, nobody on the forum.

Agreed!

But, I also agree with the person that said woodgrain just isn't for the Z. Maybe the g35c, but the Z is just screaming sports car, not sport luxury. CF is a much better fit on the Z.

pretty ghey

:icon8: Wow, more power to that owner for being different. Nice work, regardless.

Lol...Not even on a Nokia phone. I like the craftsman ship I too feel that it is in vain because it takes away from the raw sports car the 350 is. I mean this car has terribly loud road noise, its like riding in a glovebox. And then you ad wood grain...yeah not gonna cut it :)

mdacko Nov 30, 2004 02:59 PM

whether you love it or hate it, pinnacleliquid does amazing work. i love my cf b pillars from them. i cant wait to get my dash done by them. cf though, not wood grain. :)

Santacruzslick Nov 30, 2004 03:37 PM

The grey wood like the BMW's have would look pretty good.

What do they charge for CF kits? Do they have a site?

Thanks,

Vent covers (Aluminum)

I made Aluminum matte finished vent covers. I think it really added a little more sporty look to a rather plain dash. What do you guys think of them?

I'm thinking about getting a weave... or .. maybe just a jery-curl.

gotta run... one of my hoes' looks like she is on strike
