Chime in! Which kit's fit?

ok so every vendor out there seems to have their own replica's, and claim perfect fitment.
Anyone want to chime in on what kit they got from who, and how the fitment was?
I'm specifically asking fitment for either the
IPDG ings 1/2 kit.
Do luck front
Amuse front
or Junction produce.

hmm.. I wanna know too.

wait ..nobody wants to reveal their kits are replicas :icon17:

I have an ings half kit replica. I like it very much, its not on yet, ill make sure to post pics when it is. Replica is better IMO, no way im shellin out 2500 for an authentic when i got my replica for 400

Definitely keep us updated on the fitment and install process.

I always wanted INGS+1 Half kit since it came out but that hefty price tag was just too much to justify in my financial situation.

Also, where did you get the kit? IPDG(350zforums)?

nismo33 May 31, 2005 06:01 PM

I'll probably get flamed, but here goes. I try to avoid replicas as much as possible due to past experience that the cost of labor for certain kits will end up costing the same as real kit. yes there are some that fit okay with a little tweaking, but for the most part you will need a lot of work. for my car my old set uo was a genuine cf cwest lip kit. vis made a copy and fitment was sortof shity. for my second set up i ended up with a genuine INGS nspec kit in carbon fiber including the wing and hood. the knock off of this kit is called initial d and i got to say the front is okay, the sides are a bit off, and the back is just plain $hit. the back of the fake kit was bad cause it would dip in up to 4mm in the midle. huge gaps all around. lip kit knock off fit better than full replacement kit. you have a better chance fitting a fake lip kit better than a fake full replacement. i guess it's buyer beware on buying fake stuff.

Oh, your point is totally legit IMO. That's why I try to find out the fitment/quality of replicas before I make decisions. (Using other people as guinea pigs. :D )

I didn't know INGS N-Spec also made their kit with CF. Hmm. I seems like awful lot of $$$, but heck, it looks good! :D

RURedZ May 31, 2005 06:54 PM

Ya I totally agree with Nismo33

The only body kits that fit are originals.

Copies are flawed for these reasons:

1. The kits never fit right

2. The Fiberglass is thin and easily shatters from daily driving.

3. The buyer spends more on bodywork trying to make copy fit.

4. Lastly designs are stolen from manufactures that are passionate & support the 350z.

It takes lot of time, skill, machinery and money to make the orginal kits hence the price.

I honestly think if you can’t afford certain products and buy copies you really shouldn’t be spending the money to modify your Z.

It’s like a person with a Ferrari Kit Car or a Fake Rolex. It's just a front a waste of money, and is no where near the same quality as the original.

if you have to go for a knock off then Red6 sells the wald kit lip kitr in fiber glass and cf that fits well. some of the real stuff is cheap too. for example the real nismo stuff is slightly more than the fake. the greddy front lip goes for less than $200. it's when you get to some of the JDM stuff gets uber expensive. INGS comes in cf as a special order according to ihatebobbarker and yeah its $$$s

Yeah, there are many other good alternative "authentic" kits with good prices out there. That's why I chose Veilside V1 CF Lip. But hell, its fitment is worse than that of freakin' ebay knockoffs! Holes don't align, scuffed hell out of my front bumper, and already cracked while tried to fit it in. (Did all the fabrication needed as the manual says, but didn't help much.)

At least it looks GOOD when it's on though.

05-Z May 31, 2005 07:40 PM

Here comes the fake kit vs real kit argument.....waiting for top secret or bulletproof to jump in here!:D

I'm def. curious as to fitment for the ings replica.

nismo33 May 31, 2005 07:55 PM

no arguments from me. just making a few points please don't take any of my comments the wrong way. just offering advice from my personal experience. also for most of the JDM pieces can be ordered paying half now or even as little as 20% and remaining balance when package arrives. for the most part you have like 4-6 months to come up with the remaining balance. i don't humiliate or bash anyone that has the fake stuff as long as it is done right. i just frown upon cars that have the fake stuff and was just slap on and not fit or look right. fake or real it's all up to you. its in the final product/look i care about.

HockeyZ39 May 31, 2005 08:51 PM

Nismo33 what lip is that on the white Z in your pictures?

nismo33 May 31, 2005 09:49 PM

my old cwest cf lip kit. sold it to a good buddy of mine.

nismo33 May 31, 2005 09:52 PM

oh yeah one thing about some of the jdm kits have trouble fitting cause some jdm cars are built different from usdm cars. on the z33 not so bad since sam ghosn pres of nissan is all into globalization. the veilside version 1 lip take some patience and a little bit of grinding. PITA, but worth it.

looks so different at that angle!

Badfish25 Jun 2, 2005 07:37 AM

Hands down I would go for a real kit over fake. It's not so much the cost difference that concerns me as the extra body work to fit them will make up that difference quickly. My main concern is giving some company over a thousand dollars and having to wait MONTHS for the kit just to arrive.

so anyway, anyone with an amuse front i'm really liking that right now.
