How come so many don't shine their tires when taking a pic?
 

I have seen this many times on all cars. The car will be freshly washed and waxed; it's even parked in front of a nice background. Then I look at the tires and they look dry and crusty looking! I don't get it! =)

I spray on some type of tire foam after I wash my car, and it really makes it look so much better.

one thing i've noticed...
when i had my stockies, i used meguiars tire shine on em and they glistened. however, after 2 weeks, if i didn't put more tire shine on them they became dull and really ugly..

after i got my new T1s, i just decided not to put any tire shine to see how long they look good on their own... its been 2 months and they still look good... i think once u start putting that tire shine ur stuck with it... just my op...

I think it's because the dressing causes dust/dirt to eventually stick to the tire. I use eagle one tire spray (using those sponges to apply), and also whenever i wash the car i spray the eagle one wheel/tire cleaner on. It works awesome, after each wash the tires are black and still a bit shiny after.

I had the same problem that desiZ used to have before too, when i just washed the car without using any cleaner, it's really tough to clean off the old dressing.

You can actually get your tires to look good by brushing them rather than smearing the dirt around with tire grease.

I use Black Magic Tire gel and it last for weeks(3), but my complaint with the gel is that it sprays onto the side of the car when your tire is spinning and I have gel all over the side of my car.

I love using the Gel because it is much more easy and clean then the foam or spray. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm open to switching to another product.

I used to use that before. Didn't like it as much as the eagle one stuff now. Using the foam applicator with the eagle one spray works really good and it just doesn't seem as messy, and to me lasts longer.

i just use eagle one tire wet. it works beautifully. no applicator is necessary. the aerosol can has an adjustable nozzle for wide or narrow. works rather nicely on the stock tires. the shine will dull after 6-7 days.

i use some stuff i get at a local detailing shop, stuff works so well for about a month depending on what crap you have to drive your car through. Maybe the reason why you guys have problems when is that you don't remove the old tire gloss with degreaser between applications?

I have used many types of tire shines, I really like the Zaino tire shine, not too shiny and does not leave crap on your mud flaps/wheels.

I always wash wheels/tires with a separate wash, and use a sponge and really scrub the tires to get the grease out. Then I re-apply the tire shine!

I don't use tire shine a lot due to it being covered and I cannot stand a dirty/greasy car cover.

Eagle 1 foam was the first thing I used and I would have to foam every week to keep it looking wet :(

Oh, no sorry... i don't mean the foam one. The one i use is just a liquid spray, but i spray it onto the curved foam thing, then use that to apply it onto the tires so i don't get overspray on the wheels/car.

I always wash the old dressing off during washes too using the wheel/tire cleaners and it's always nice and shiny :)

Some people think shinny tires look silly. Clean is good, shinny is unnatural.

I for one am a tire shine lover....I have had the same problems with tire shine on the side of your car after spraying, also have the problem of them looking shitty after a week or two, after a long time of using the stuff, and washing cars, I think i got it figured out...


You literally have to wash your tires when your wasing your car. Soap, water, and scrubbing, to get the road tar off, once they are clean and smooth again, apply the shine. You reallly have to leave it in the sun to dry the stuff on, and in some cases if I get to much on, i run a towel, that I sprayed with shine (so I dont just rub it all off) around the tire a couple of times to flatten it out and make it smooth and wet looking. Just throwing tire shine on dirty tires (they can look clean, but tar is same color of tire and gets pretty smooth) just wont work. You gotta clean them. If you still get the **** on the side of your car, you might be using to much...I for one think the more shine the better, example pic :)

This is how my tires look all the time. And car for that matter, to the dismay of my gf, lol....how many of you guys get the occasional, "you love it more then me" line. Then have to back that up with a nice dinner and some rough....I love tire shine!

I'm with ya, dude. When I park my car beside a clean car, you always look better when you have the tire looking wet. It just makes your car look clean. Why bother cleaning your car and rim and leave your tire dull? It just doesn't look "finished".

As for the girlfriend thing, I got a better story. There is an annoying group of girls in my neighbourhood ages 10-12, they are at the age of where they are smartasses. They finally approached me one day while I was cleaning my car and asked "Why do you wash your car all the time, do you love it that much?" and I replied, "Of course, I love it very much, how often do you see your dad clean your mom?"

After that, I waited for some angry phone calls from the neighbours...

to prevent from getting the stuff spraying all over the side of your car i use the foam paint brushes to apply tire shine to the tires. and let the car sit for a little while before i drive off again.

too much shine looks horrible
