Low beams ain't cutting it: Question.
 

What can be done to increase the range of the low beams on my Performance model?

At speeds over 50MPH on dark roads w/o other cars, the beams just are not projecting out enough. I feel like I'm driving blind unless I switch to the highs (which does not make oncomming traffic to happy).

New bulbs? Adjust the angle? Added driving lights?

On a related note has anyone installed a foot switch to go between low & high beams?

i would adjust the angle first and see how that will help. i raised my beam angle almost 3/4 of a CM and it seemed to raise the projections about 2 feet.

helped a lot at night but on rainy nights it still didn't cut it.

i'm sure new bulbs will make it better as well, but that will cost you some $$

I find the low beam pretty bright. I walked about 20 yards from my car and looked back at it. Those lights are bright, i'm concerned people might think I have my high beams on. Maybe it is more adjusting the angle is what you need to do.

search is your friend. this has been covered in a good number of threads. a general opinion is the Z headlights came aimed too low from the factory. here's a diy fix for it. simple.

Word of advise get a long flathead with a pretty large head to do it. I completely feel your pain with the headlights. I took it to the dealer when i first bought the car and they adjusted it even lower bc they said it came too high!!!! I couldnt believe it, ever since then ive been DIY on everything i can on the Z.

It's a Phillips head and it's long but the head is a normal size. See the pic

i used a flathead bc my phillips wouldnt work right, kept chewing it up.

Might have been the wrong size then cause mine fits like a glove.

If I get time I will take it to Sears and compare it to what they have on the rack so I can get a part number.

i bought a 20" long #2 philips head from home depot. workslike a champ!!

hmmm... i picked up a #2 phillips head and it wouldnt turn the headlight at all..

ive read hypersprites diy thread and someone elses that was the exact same and i cant find that stupid gear that is referenced to turn in order to adjust the headlight. anyone else have this problem and/or can give me some pointers on where to look.

Ok, I verified yesterday at Sears that in fact it is a number 2 head.

You are only going to see a tooth or two of the gear inside there, the rest is shrouded by plastic. If you pull out the inner fender liners you can see the whole thing from there it's not really the right way to go at it.
