well for one you were trying to refer to the ballast say it slowly b a l l a s t, alright sorry just messing with ya.

If you want brighter output you should get some aftermarket philips DS2 (i'm pretty sure the z takes ds2 bulbs and not dsr) bulbs to replace your stock bulbs. the color temperature rating depends on what kind of light output you want

4300K is the best bulb if you want the best possibly light output. it's the color temperature of the light given off by the sun aka daylight. the higher up the chart you go the less output you get but you also get different colors. 6000k gets a blueish tint, 8000k gives a purple tint, 12000k gets a violet color and is pretty much useless as a headlight. and if you go lower on the spectrum around 1000k the light ends up turning yellowish (like some hid foglights).

you shouldn't have to touch the ballasts at all they simply supply the power to the bulb they don't change the color or increase the light output.

the 350z OEM HID headlights uses D2R.
As for brightness, the stock color 4300k will be the brightest. Anything higher will just look bluer and actually put out less light.
