think i'm in trouble.. chrome bulb turn signal
my car is on jackstands with one of the wheels off as we speak. I bought those chrome bulbs from evostyle to replace my turn signal lights. well i finally got to the turn signal bulb on my 2006 headlight and it doesn't look anything like the one showed here https://my350z.com/forum/attachment....9&d=1132119376
plus I can't even get it out of the harness!! I've tried wiggling it but it looks like it's attached to these clips at the base that secure it and i'll need a screwdriver to get it out. That or tweezers. The OEM ones say sylvania at the base, comparing the size of the OEM turn signal bulb and the EVOstyle bulb, the OEM one DWARFS the Evostyle bulb. Is this also common in the 2003-2005s? Man it sucks because I've been waiting for these for a while, and it was a pain to get my car up there. Please tell me it's normal to be a pain in the ass to get the OEM bulb out? |
Hmm, sounds like they use a different size bulb in the new '06 headlights. Looks like you're SOL on the set you bought; can you return them?

That photo was from a DIY that I wrote up for my 2003 350Z. Please try to get a picture of what you are talking about. It might help us to assist you better and might also benifit other 2006 members as well.
I have recently replaced my OEM turn signals with chrome plated EVO style turn signals as well. Without pictures from you, all I can do is give you some advice I have learnt from the install. 1. The first time I tried to take the OEM turn signal out of it's housing, I thought it was also glued in or something, I didn't want to force it too hard because I didn't want to break it. Finally I just grab the whole OEM turning bulb in the palm of my hand and rocked it back and forth while pulling at the same time to get it out. 2. My chrome plated EVO style bulb was also bigger then the OEM bulb. 3. Just in case you get pass the first point, I just want to mention that at first, I thought the chrome plated EVO style bulb did not fit because it sat so loosely in the socket. But then I gave it a good push into the socket and I definately heard a click. Then I knew it was tight. I hope you do get this solved because the chrome plated EVO Style turn signals makes a really cool difference. |
Make sure it clicks in, I didn't and mine popped out inside of the headlight housing, I learned how to take off the front bumper cover and get the headlights out that night.....

The '06 bulbs are different.
From the 2006 manual: Front turn signal light = 3457NA |
I think you are just got PWN3D!!!
|
haha yeah i did.. what a waste of an effort, yeah i noticed when i went back to my car after my first post that they were different. then i went to see how it would look in my tail light. i didn't like how it was so much weaker than stock bulbs so I decided to put the stock one back on. then it happened.. damn chrome bulb fell out of it's socket and into the housing. i got pwned bigtime!! i eventually got it out, thanks cheston.
