Default OEM 6spd Shift **** Rattle...is there a fix?

My OEM 6spd shift **** rattles. the only way to cure the rattle is to turn the shift **** tighter, which of course makes it look weird and not feel as comfortable. Orginally i only turned it about an 1/8 of a turn, but then it started rattling again, so now it is at a 1/4 turn.

Does anyone know a fix for this where i can keep my shift **** straight?

Thanks!!

Shift **** just screws off? some of the posts i have been reading made it seem like it is more difficult than that.

im willin go tbet that if its ratteling and you can turn it to tighten it up then you should be able to just screw it off. give it a shot if you cant then you may have to use the ways described by others to get it off.
