What's a nice shift knob??

I'd like to get a 2nd shift knob just for fun. I really like the Nismo ones. What do you guys think are good shift knobs?? Include pics if possible

Stock hard to beat!

Everybody has to be different. I have looked at others available, but think the stock is clean, simple, stylish and beautiful.

TJZ Apr 11, 2003 04:49 PM

I've always been a fan of the greddy shift knobs

perucho Apr 12, 2003 07:52 AM

Yeah guys...same question as jhtran01.

jhtran01 Apr 12, 2003 08:10 AM

Where can you buy that 2nd Nismo shift knob(the smaller one) ? Any info would be appreciated....

Some of those are very nice, but I'd love to see them installed on an actual Z.

But, I like the stock knob too much to change.

I wanted a new shiftknob for my rsx-s. I never got it, but it needed a nicer looking one. I love the shift knob on my Z. I havn't seen an aftermarket knob that looks as good. I was very impressed when I saw it for the first time. It's stylish and practical. The shape can't be topped IMO.

I agree also!

I have to agree, I really like the factury shifter. But I'm also very interested in the first shift knob shown at the beginning of this thread. Does anybody have a picture of it installed on a Z to see how it looks?

A/T shift knobs

razo and momo makes a/t shifters that will fit a z. just look for a knob that has no o/d button and it should fit. but just so you know, removal of the oem a/t shifter is kinda difficult.

The ARC titanium shoft knob has a pretty cool look, and felt great in my friends S2K

Those knobs are fine but jump into your car after it has been setting in the sun for a few hours and tell me how the metal knobs feel. You are going to have a hard time holding onto the knob long enough to shift it will be so hot unless you use gloves. I am going to stick with the stock knob...

ares Jul 1, 2003 05:11 AM

thats what I was thinking, just the little metal plate in the stock nob is enough to get me shifting with the finger tips not the palm.

I also dont know that the nob would flow as good as the stock does. seems like it would look out of place. I too would want to see a picture. not that it matters, the top one is like 100$ and the second one is just a little less. itd have to make the car ALOT better looking for me to consider buying it, and I dont think a knob can change enough; and no way could the ergonomics of it be better, looks uncomforable if anything.

Ive heard of shifters that are molded to your hands... that intrigues me.

bring an ice pack with you and put it over the shift knob:icon15: :icon14:

The stock shift knob IS hard to beat. But I remember the leather knob on my 240SX started to peel after a while. So I'm getting a Nismo one and gonna save the stock one. No one else had that happen?

teh215 Jul 1, 2003 11:31 AM

Yeah, I imagine that the leather on the knob will get pretty ratty after a while from the sun and sweat from your hands. My ideal choice would be a t-style shifter handle made from a black resin. I have always like the t-style over just a plain knob.
