opinions on 12000k HId's (purple light)
hey guys just wanted an opinion, i recently upgraded to the 12000k hid's , the purple lights, dont see many cars with them . Are they not "cool"? if not then let me know. i think they look alright, beginning to have doubts.
It's just that its more for looks than function. I can't see how a person would rather lose visibility over some blue or purple lights.
Just thought they would be brighter bc of the wattage. Just dont think they are as bright as some white hid's i see out there.
You'll lose close to half of your light output using 12k bulbs
they are great if you don't like driving at night

lol, i know exactly what you mean. Maybe that's why my HIDS last longer than others. Only used when necessary. |
12000k refers to the color. The actual light output, measured in lumens, is something like half or worse.
12k is rice.
:o what about the yellow ones? :o
Just a question onlight output ;) |
Thanks guys, i guess ill be changing them soon, any suggestions?

PIAA makes some stock replacement bulbs with a bit higher Kelvin rating.
I agree with tech, 8k and above is fried rice
if you actually want to see, don't go any higher than 6600k. If you go higher than that, your light output at night is seriously compromised - it becomes especially bad in poor weather
I bought my Piaa Cobalt 6600's from Adam@Z1 and they still emit a nice violet hue with excellent lighting. Thet are a tad pricier than most but you get what you pay for and Piaa warrantys them for 3 years. Call Adam and be done with it.

Get the 12000K bulbs if you want to actually have less light output than what's emitted by a $3 halogen bulb from Wal-Mart.
