Steering wheel re-wrap

I work for Mercedes Benz, and have noticed that the steering wheels on the AMG package vehicles are MUCH nicer feeling than our Z wheels. The leather is very dry and dull, and the wheel is slightly thicker, also has perferation on each side of the wheel.

Has anyone had their wheel re-wrapped? If so, do you have pics showing quality and where it was done, as well as price if you dont mind!

thanks!

Bumpity Bump

I have the same issue on my car, it's peeling really bad on the top. It doesn't bother me too bad, but I want to fix it before I put the car on the market.

Any ideas?

yea I've really been thinking about this also.. I'd def. like something like a suede material wrap for the steering wheel..something along the lines that some BMW M3's have .

Conceyted 08-14-2007 01:16 PM

if someone comes up with a relatively affordable solution please post it up here. I think many of us have the steering wheel peel problem and would like an option!

Suede is 50x's worse than leather. It doesn't last for anything man. If you guys are that concerned, get a afterarket wheel like personal. It's made in italy, my personal wheel has a different texture than the OEM unit I had on there before. I don't know how it will feel 4 years from now though. :icon8:

Yep Wheelskins:D I have wrapped my wife's Camry and my Truck's steering wheel with their products, and they look great. I used the simple single color wrap on both. Go to their site and you'll see two tones and etc. A quality cover. Downside is, to do it right, it takes at least and hour and a half to properly lace the wheel.

Lou

No offense, Lou, but those things look hideous. It doesnt look so bad on your car there but some of those pictures make me cringe. I dont mind spending an hour or even 3 rewraping my steering wheel but I honestly want more than a cover.

http://www.american-stitches.com/index.htm

noodleman 08-14-2007 06:39 PM

should match with the rest of your interior....black sides and top and bottom of the steering wheel with red leather to match your seats (with or without perf. leather). It's look sick!

Conceyted 08-14-2007 06:40 PM

i sent them an email requesting a quote. ill keep you guys posted. thanks redlinez

The american stiches place looks sweet but they require you to remove your steering wheel and send it in. Won't work for me since i use the Z as a daily driver, my hunch is that many of you do the same, especially since you have a worn steering wheel!

I guess I would have to buy a used one and do it. still would like to know how much they charge?
