If you know what TL/ZKW stands for, you'll appreciate this...

So I started a retrofit on my headlights a while back and didn't really keep everyone posted on my progress as I had waay too many problems with the headlights themselves at the time...

Here's a couple pictures of the headlights as they sit now....

And what they looked like with the V.2 I rocked for like.. a week.

In any case, I made this thread as a warning to anyone that does this in the future. DO NOT USE regular E46 bi-xenon projectors unless you really don't care about the output. Don't forget they also make the wiring harness 2x harder than it should be..

I bought a pair of ZKW projectors (a very specific year of BMW) and a pair of TL's. $500 sounds like alot for projectors, but here's some comparison shots. You're looking at what HID lights should look like v. the second shot which is what most projectors look like.

TL/ZKW hybrid;

the leftover ZKW/TL

I didn't even bother taking pictures of the e46 projectors. That's how bad they were. I recently rebuilt those headlights using the leftover ZKW/TL's and have had great success. When I bought those TL's though, I sent them to Ivory on these forums to have him build me a set. I'm hoping this thread will motivate him to get some pictures up...

In any case, I'm considering doing this in my spare time for some extra cash. I've done 3 sets now, and I'd be very confident in my ability to continue to do these for other my350z peeps who like the look of the 03-05 housing better but still want that full-size projector. PM me if you're interested....

Oh, and a picture of the Z, so people will stop bothering me about using a V.2 bumper with stock 17's

Around how much are you going to be asking for a retrofit?

exactly my plan...... the tl's with a clear lense, love it tl projectors are worth every penny no bi xenon comes close. they lined up with stock mounting holes????

The TL top mounting holes are the perfect width, but you have to make brackets for the bottom. You also have to worry about spacing it the right way, as the projector is HUGE.

*bump*

I'm offering blacking out the housing now for a flat price of $100.

If that sounds like your cup of tea, shoot me a PM. I'm not doing it as a business, but anyone local that can help support my modding habits is more than appreciated...
