Hey Tight350Z what installer did you use?
I went to the local tint shop and the dude refused to do it! He's scared he will mess it up
He told me to go to someone who deals with Vinyl
I would have thought this is less complicated than window tinting
So now I dont know what to do...
I guess I will look for another shop or do it myself.

i helped my installer do mine..it wasnt that hard at all..we didnt have to heat gun mine any actually..install the rear first..work from the middle OUT..then once its set, go to the front piece leaving a uniform hang over on both sides so its even..itll be slightly less in the middle due to the curve of the roof..so make sure its got enough so it doesnt shrink any or get pulled to far forward when u are removing the excess water ...then just trim and tuck...about 45 to a hour for a install..wasnt that bad.. i could probably do it myself after watchin him do it..id say its WAY easier than a headlight or tail light over lay!
btw u def. need two ppl to install this..one would be pretty hard!

My Spring plans have included getting the roof painted black. I am, however, intrigued by the recent pics of this overlay. My questions are as follows:
- How does the overlay's top coat compare to the paint's clearcoat? Or is there even a top coat? I am a finicky detailer and am concerned of its "live" appearance since pics can never compare to that. My worry is this overlay might develop micro scratches over time from simple wind action or regular cleaning (like paint) and that would look terrible from up close in comparison to mirror-like paint finish. But unlike paint, vinyl cannot be polished, so what does one do in that case?
- There is no way to create a one-piece overlay? Or is cost the concern? The seam is the other thing I am concerned about. It must appear obvious from up close, exacerbated by fine dust collecting all along the edge (much like clear bra) which is impossible to eliminate. Or is my concern unfounded?
Looking forward to insight on above two. Bottom line is that anyone buying this piece should get a product that is damn near impossible to tell apart from an actual paint job (in person, not in pics). I am really hoping that is the case since I would then be all over it next month.

I've shipped over 100 roof overlays to date with no concerns from anyone 
. You can wax the overlay, but do it lightly. Its easy for a shop to make a 1 piece, because they dont have to worry about shipping it. I would need at least va 48" wide shipping tube. My main concern is the overlay getting damaged due to a bent shipping tube during transportation. Also, 2 piece is easier to install than a one piece. The Overlay is a good alternative to painting. Also a good way to see how it will look if you plan on painting it down the line .
