unused space behind driver's seat

For those of us who are non-bose and sub free. Is there any way to utilize the space behind driver's seat. Turning it into another storage compartment like the one behind passenger's side?

alphared Jun 6, 2003 11:59 PM

a few people has done that. Do a search for them.

Pat1USMC Jun 7, 2003 05:56 AM

I'm going to put a sub in there!
But i don't see any reason why someone can't cut it and put a door on it...

n8vz Jun 7, 2003 06:16 AM

makes sense. If the dimensions behind driver side is the same as passanger side, i can simply order the identical the glove box door and slap it on. anyone tried doing that?

toykilla Jun 9, 2003 08:57 AM

i might try doing that this afternoon, from what i see there should be no cutting involved (sub panel apparently is held in by bolts only

i will let you know what i find out

n8vz or toykilla:

did either of you find out if you could turn the compartment behind the driver's seat into another storage compartment?

If so, what is needed to do the job?

Thanks,

Kyle

boy no one likes to use search. Just give courtsey nissan a call. you need the glove box support bracket. the glove box and the door. Its pretty pricey from what others have said here.
Also, involves you to do some panel removal to install it (again search and you'll see how to remove the panels)

i have taken the panel off .. not hard at all really.. i have called courtesy and got a quote for 83$ ... so i will be doing that soon... just gotta replace my bumper first

If as you mentioned you are subfree & value your storage space is this not the perfect plqce for a Basslink ? ( see active thread under audio or do search ) Installing mine tomorrow. for about 250.00 a nice solution.

toykilla Jul 10, 2003 07:13 AM

basslink is good for some.. but i dont think that space will hold my 2 Infinity Perfect 12's :D

That sounds a bit rude. I did several searches on this topic, but couldn't find anything similar to this thread.

Still, I do appreciate the response and I'll be giving Courtsey Nissan a call.

Thanks

I looked into adding an additional glove box and that price sounds about right from Courtesy. The catch is that the door with the latch does not come with the glove box kit. That is part of the panel that goes around both openings which is not included in the glove box cost.

I thought about using the current latch-less cover and making my own latch after a visit to the local Home Depot.
