Black Headliner

I accidentally marked my headliner with a blue pen this morning. Shame on me, I know. Time to rip it out and recover it in black cloth. Has anyone done this personally? The shape looks easy enough that I could do it myself.

I have thought about this myself, but so much of the hardware
is grey... I have seen a car in so FL with a full black interior, but
with no OEM black plastic ceiling parts I think the outcome is
bleh... Unfortunately I have no pics.

how did you mark it with blue pen

s3fddiZ 02-26-2008 09:21 AM

There have been quite a few people that have either painted it with black fabric paint or covered with suede.

I am planning on covering mine with suede within the next couple months. Doesn't look to be that hard.

I had it in my hand, and smacked the headliner when I turned around to look at something in the back. Stupid, I know.

I'd paint all the hardware and plastics flat black in the process.

I went to Discount Auto and bought some fabric and vinyl black paint and it took about 3 cans to do the head liner, and honestly i couldnt be happier, it looks OEM and much better than that ugly grey stuff. Plus you dont have to worry about it geting dirty. (Sorry I dont have pics)

How's it hold up against rubbing off? For example if you rub your hand against the headliner, will anything rub off onto your hand?

I cant concentrate with that Avatar you have.

I don't want to change the color of fabric. I'll just change the fabric. But if you could get around to it, pics would be awesome. :)

I have about 3 areas that i have to touch up when its a little less windy out. I'm going to have to find a way to spray inside the car, but that will be anohter time. Also make sure you have someone there when you are putting the liner back in makes it 100x easier.

Looks good, I just want to do it with fabric. :)

I will try to get some on Thursday when I get a chance. I've been really busy at work.

I have scrubed it many times even with a rag just to wipe it down and nothing has worn off, its VERY durable.

I can do a DIY in a few weeks if you'd like.

I'm going to have my body shop spray them in flat black paint.

If you have the frost interior the headliner looks great, but I NEVER understood why the headliner is gray when you have a black interior (like me).:icon20: :icon20:

I have black on black. The grey headliner does look awkward. :)
