So I wrecked my car and I'm thinking about going with a different bumper SUGGESTIONS?
Ok so I wrecked my car. Different story for a different thread. I'm gonna have to replace the front bumper for sure. The funny thing is, the body shop that I went to just happened to have a ready to go fiber glass body kit they "got stuck with" and are trying to get rid of. It has side skirts and front and rear bumper. they said that they had already done all the work to make it fit right and some guy just left them stuck with it and went with a different kit or something. Anyway, I don't know much at all about bodykits. Is there anthing I should beware of when thinking of fiberglass? I hear they can tend to crack. And I know they don't always fit up the best either but that has already been taken care of supposedly with this kit. Anyway its like a 1300 dollar kit the guy says and he's already throwing out prices like 800 which the insurance would cover most of and I think I could probably get him down to at least 700. I know I'm rambling at this point but hey I'm delirious cuz my car is F'd up. Anyways I would welcome any thoughts or suggestions.

need to see the kit on a car.
Fiberglass not my first pick. |
which kit?
is the ic and piping ok? you ok? |
yes,i would stay away from fiberglass if you drive the car a lot. Not just because they crack, but they also get stress cracks all the time that shows in the paint. Looks like spiderweb cracks. I wish i still had pics of my fiberglass kit on my old car. It wasn't a cheap kit either. it was authentic and had a very nice paint job on it. If you put on and take off your bumpers frequently, fiberglass tends to crack around teh mounting points.

thx yeah chris i'm ok
|
yea, say no to fiberglass.
|
It's a good deal only if you LOVE the bodykit they're offering. As others have said, you'll have to adjust your driving, particularly if the Z is a DD. When I was faced with a similar decision, I went with the Aerosync N-type, which is built from urethane. It's offers much more durability than fiberglass and is a better choice for a DD.

if the shop did its job right fiberglass will look and fit just as good as any other kit. plus all the best looking authentic kits are fiberglass.
|
anyone else have an experience like this and use insurance money to get aftermarket kits? I'd also like to see some pics if someone has any of a body kit on a non lowered car preferably a red one
|
So it sounds like I'm probly not going to go with the fiberglass kit. I'll probably just use insurance money to get a urethane front bumper. Any suggestions for a red non lowered z? maybe some sideskirts as well
|
Fiberglass is a big no no if your car is a daily. It will crack and it isnt an easy process to fix time after time.

Reduce...
your headache pain with urethane. Man, they really need to start paying me more for these.
Honestly though, it's probably the better overall choice. Now in terms of style, I think you should get... |
ok so I'm settled on urethane. I like the vertex but can't find anyone with just the front bumper and I'm not sure about getting a replica. Can anyone else recommend one that might look good on my car being that its not lowered?
There is a pic of my car at myspace.com/danielz350z I need to get one ASAP because the insurance company said they wont let my car sit at the body shop while I wait on my own parts to arrive |
damn I just was looking and reallized that the fiberglass kit they have is the veilside

true but if your car got to a point where the bumper was torn...
maybe it shouldnt be so modified or something. thats nuts. |
can someone just tell me where to get a vertex front bumper? I think thats what i want its FRP or whatever i think
|
shineauto nismo v2 bumper and side skirts gets my vote. Both are in Urathane. Fitment is supposed to be good.

The NISMO V3 is polypropelene and obviously perfect fitment. I think it looks great. price is great also. Performance Nissan sells it.
The Shine is not urethane. It's still fiberglass but a hybrid. It's not as good as an OE bumper. Urethane bumpers are a misnonmer. OE bumpers are polypropelene. JET |
sorry for the miss information
