Driver door won't unlock
 

My girlfriend slammed my door shut on the driver side accidently today GRRR!!! :icon20: and now my door won't open from the outside, nor the inside. I've been searching around and I found this website that shows you how to remove the door panel, but with the door open http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/front_speakers/. Seems like I'm the only rare case, because I've done alot of searches, and can't find one :(

Has anyone ever tried to take the door panel off inside the car? I tried today, and since there are clips that are around the edges of the door panel and the door is close, I have had no luck.

Or does anyone know how to get open umm without using the door handle lol, probly not.

There's no tension when I pull on the door handle, so a rod or a spring is broken on the locking mechanism. HELP!!!

BTW: I have an 03 Z

hmmm.... did you try a slim-jim??? Might be able to grab the rod??

yeah if i could only get the door open, i would be able to take the door panel apart and fix whatever is broken in there

Just drive through the hood.. I'm sure some nice patron will have one :D

yeah...your kinda stuck. You should be able to get one at PEP BOYS or AUTOZONE

Dont know if that will even work since your trying to open the door..not pop the lock.

Bite the Bullet ---call a pro to get the door open. I could do it, but trust me, you just wont get it. You got a 10% chance.

Once its opened, then save the money lost on the "door opener" guy and pull the panels and fix the linkage

What might have happened is she broke/jared the lock/unlock cable from its grove. Its a long shot but it might have happened.

Try to see if you can get the top of the door panel open to look inside through the top. You'll see two rods if one is lose get a metal hanger make it into a hook pull the loose rod out the top of the door. Once you get a hand one it hank it and it should either unlock the door so you can open it or it will open the door if its the door opener rod.

edit: they are super long rods and they are flexable kinda like bike brake lines. You can't miss them.

I'm in the same boat. Driver's door won't unlock and open up. Just happened today in the dealer lot. I have an appt booked on Tuesday but I just hope I don't get raped on service fees.
