NEW Gauge Pod for the Z!!!

That is very cool.
I'd like to put them in back so I can use some of the cubby, I have a subwoofer control in the upper right corner I wold like to keep there, also I put them high up so I can get the rubber "mat" back in.
I can send you the cubby and gauges if that would help.
Thanks!

Hot off the CNC. I know it doesnt help you but it just shows what is doable.
Would you want the finisher plate to be flush with the gauge faces or just something to sure up the mounting plate?
It is a tad to tall for the auto retract to be smooth so I will shorten it.

I have a navigation box from an 04 i believe. The dimensions I measured were 3.5x5.8 at the very bottom. If the plat is to be elevated then the dimensions would change slightly since the main opening is about 6.11x3.63.
Are you wanting .5" between the plate and back of the box or between the plate and the face of the box?
White is the box. See the dimensions in cyan.

Are you saying that you want the plate to be flush with the cubby but have .5" flanges on the sides/top/bottom so that you can put a screw though the box to mount the plate?
The pic I posted is not the face on view but a top view of the cubby to get an idea of the taper. Its not a perfect box.

Do you want me to make it to your dimensions or the ones I measured on my nav box? I would think your dimensions would be best.
Taper the sides or is your box a true box?
The poplar I use is .75". That leaves room for .5" in tabs and .25" face thickness.
Holes...do you want holes drilled in it?
What is your gauge face diameter? Need to know for clearance reasons.

1st stab.
I used the gauge dimension of what I have in my cluster.
The inner circles are the ones for the gauge (52mm) while the outer circles are the ones for the face clearance.

Got some chip out at the edges as I suspected would happen. I tapered the sides to match the box taper.
This was a rough cut with maximum depth per cut and not finishing work done by the cnc. I will set it up again to do it smoother.
The gauges will provide some of the rigidity for the plate near the edges. The 350z box just is too small to fit 3 52mm gauges in it without some extra material.
