What K are your HID's

i dont see many but i do see a few other Z's out there with after market HID kits... i was wondering what other K's are running around.

personally i have a 05 light assembly with 8,000k for my normal running lights and 20,000k for my high beams (yes i converted my highs to HID hope you got your shades on  )

adamtaylorpcb May 17, 2008 10:18 AM

lol... so your driving beams go farther than your hi beams

DUBZRO May 17, 2008 10:25 AM

ive had 8000k in the 03 headlights and 12000k in the 06 projector headlights ... im now back to stock 4300k in the 06 projectors, the 8000k arent bad but the 12000k werent good at all. im gonna try 6000k next week.

you do have HID right? not the normal stock bulbs correct? i saw a set of 12k's just last night that looked pretty good

the pics i posted are a mix of my 20k highs WITH the 8k lows... im trying to figure a way to set a switch up to where i can have my highs on ONLY without needing the lows on at the same time, maybe a taco switch that cuts the line that runs before the head light fuse.

4300k FTW!

yeah i have HID's, i had 03'sand i upgraded to 06's. the 12000k only look good with the highbeam, i could barely see with them on low beam, my gf asked me if my lights were on when we were driving the other day :icon11: so i snatched them out and put in the oem bulbs and maaan i forgot how bright they were. im doing the lense swap next week... should look even better:icon38:

yes..

you are a complete fool if you think 20,000K would require a person to have "shades" on.

Proper and Desirable color comes from projector, lens, and cutoff; NOT from a kelvin rating :icon22:

Well, maybe from the glare :icon16:

This link might help with some common misconceptions regarding hid headlights and the output of different kelvin temps.

Yep! Easy way to spot real cutoff color from fake high kelvin ricer bulbs is to look at the color output on the ground. Notice how its still white while the lights look purple/blue? Thats because only the cutoff has that color

6000k
looks great and works fine for city streets.

but on mountain roads, i couldn't see out safely.
high beams were on as much as possible.

thinking about upgrading to the bixenons if there's a noticeable difference in output 4300k versus 4300k

Asian Invasian May 18, 2008 08:42 PM

mine are 8k

350zDex May 18, 2008 09:01 PM

I Have An 05 Base Model Z So I Upgraded To 6k Hids The Lightput Is Good!! Gonna Get 12k Highs Just For Show.

TheOtherRob May 18, 2008 09:11 PM

For those that dont have the 06+ headlights, its a great investment. The projector produces very good light and high beams are ridiculous. I like to turn them on when my friends get infront of me so I can hear them whine later about how they couldnt see anything.

Awesome! So now your high beams put out way less light than the cheapest headlight halogen bulb in the world!

Congratulations. You are the newest member of the "my bulbs' Kelvin rating is damn high so it must be waaaaay brighter" club. It is exclusive.

Teufel May 18, 2008 09:22 PM

Should I put in HIDs for my HIs and keep the 05 xenon or upgrade to 06+ bixenon?
