Functional and removable wing
So I noticed this car likes to break the back loose much easier then I had expected. Of course that could be fun and all but not at the track. I want to know what are some good wings out there that really glue the back of the car to the ground? I am also looking for it to be removable, if possible since I don't want it on when I'm not at the track. Some of those wings will make you look like you fly, and I do not fly anywhere :) Thanks!!!

Did you upgrade the suspension and tires already?
|
Suspension is pretty set. I haven't looked under the car yet but just driving it around I have noticed how well it handles. The cobra I had was lowered, shocks/struts, subframes and such and even with the IRS didn't handle this well. The tires will def need to be upgraded. Right now I am riding on the nitto 555s and we all know how great those are for traction. I am hoping tomorrow I will be able to see what the car has suspension wise.

Downforce would be the last thing I would add. R-compound tires, coilovers with higher spring rates, sway bars and a good 1.5way limited slip diff would be the way to go first. Those mods will help you get the power down.
|
can you point me in the direction o the 1.5way LSD please. I will look into seeing what this car already has done to it and go off of the list. I know it doesnt have the lsd though. I keep feeling one tire break haha.

Check into:
NISMO Cusco Carbonetic Quaife If you have a base model then you do not have an LSD. You have an open diff. |

Good luck on your modding  |
Definitely listen to Jet, even though I'm not currently a track-rat such as himself, I've done enough research to know he's definitely pointing you in the right direction. And as a plus, for the time being, you won't look like you're flying. Once you do everything he listed, then look into aero.
Aero won't be effective until you're at very high speeds, at least in excess of 75-80+ MPH. It sounds like your problems, at least right now, are due to suspension, tires, and lack of an LSD. |
Downforce is the last mod to do.

Hate to revive a very dead thread, but it happens to be relevant to myself. I have 265/40/18 Advan Neova ad08, Koni Truechoice Phase 2 suspension, and a Quaife LSD. I'd like to now look into a large removable spoiler for track purposes, any ideas?

I know of no good removable wings (spoilers). I don't think they exist as a real thing that would effect the performance. |

Do you want a functional splitter to go with it? If not, really no point of having a functional wing.

And I also plan on going with the Downforce USA side splitters. Edit: that link turned out very different than I had imagined it would. |
all the commericially available GT wings are 'removeable' -- you will just have the base plate attached to the hatch, or the holes there.. but the stands and airfoil itself can be removed fairly easily, it's just held on with like four bolts...
not quite sure what you're aiming for.. like super stealth removal? you could always get stickers to plug up the holes. |
A wing isnt going to make enough downforce below 100mph to make a noticable difference. GT Wings are for cars capable of +200mph and normal operating speeds above 100mph. If you have $200,000 to build a LM Class 350z then you need to buy a $3000 CF wing to go with it. Also if you do this I would like to go for a ride. Thanks!
On the other hand, if you are building a Z with some decent horsepower, and you want the look to go with it, go for it. Its just not going to improve anything. |

Mod350z said it's useless... Interesting....

APR wing, about 70mph is where it comes on.
The threshold for lateral G stability in a 350Z changes dramatically after 70mph, so yes, in a race track scenario it will make a difference I guess, but even then with a ~300hp N/A tune do you really want the extra drag? Personally and LM Style GT wing belongs on a LM GT car in the performance scenario. But, for aesthetics with the right wheel/tire combo, the right front and rear splitter and side lip setup. It looks freaking bada$$. So I hope all the sarcasimites have been satisfied. |
