Headlight HAZE with Pics !!!!
 

So I got a set of 06-08 headlights and the lens cover on one of them feels rough and is hazy and has like little clear dots. Any products I could use to get rid of this. Can a body shop or etc. help me out. Ill get pics tommor

you can do a light wet sand or go to auto boys kragen whatever the hell they call it and pick up some plastic cleaner or headlight cleaner its like 6-7 bucks

I tried that i looks good when it wet but then in a couple of min it comes back

You could try to put your headlights in the oven, pry them apart and let them dry in a low moisture area for a 2-3 days, then reseal with RTV sealant (I think thats the name) very well. That may correct it. The dots though, I'm not sure about that.

If you do to this, be sure not to mess with the inside of the lens. There is a film on there that will get jacked up and your headlights will never be the same.

If all else fails, you could always get cheap Ebay lights and take the lenses off those. That would be about 1/7th of the price of new headlights. :dunno:

but its not inside because i had them sent off to lightwekz and they took cover off and could do nothing

have you tried meguiars plastic cleaner? works pretty well.

I would try buffing it with a light cut polishing pad and a mild polish like ZPC or Menzerna FP.

The fogging is in the inside, there is no way around that. If you can explain how something would fog on the outside, be my guest. :dunno:

send it to sincity, i think they can change the lenz

Ummm.... its called haze. And it happens all the time. You can buff it off with polish, this will make the surface smooth again and clear.

i got that exact type of haze on the actual car paint. left rear hatch, front right fender, driver a-pillar and a bit on the hood.....still trying to find something that can take it off on my own, if not i will have to take it somewhere pro where i will be charged an arm and a leg

I would not use any of those plastic haze removers, I have heard too many stories of people cracking their headlights due to using those products. But dont base what Ive heard on making your decision. I would buff it out, and call it a day. That is how every detailer I know of does it.

It's oxidation on the outside of the lens, my G35 had it and so did my FX35, usually plastic cleaner will remove it for 3-4 months but then it usually comes back and you'll have to do it again..

Basically its just cheap plastic Nissan uses for its headlights...

Yeah I've used Plastix as well, it just looks like it's fogging from the inside from the pictures. I would have assumed the OP would have tried that already however.

If that doesn't fix it, your only option is to get new lenses or headlights, or deal with it. You pick.

i currently have the same thing on BOTH headlights in the exact location on each side, tried plastix... then i realized it was on the inside. its that residue that looks like dripping goop that left a wavy kinda haze closer to the upper-middle portion of the lens.

not sure what ima do. its not nearly as bad as yours, its barely noticeable.

I've tried 3-4 different products including one that required that I wet sand the outside of the light.

The only thing that worked out of everything that I used is called Quixx.

I applied it in July and its still looking perfect.

what did yo use when you wet sanded? you should start with soap water and 1200 grit(or a smaller grit(600) if you want), clean, 2000 grit, clean then finish with 2500 grit to clean it all up and remove the fine lines. worked for me, also have used plastic x before with good results, but didn't last as long as wet sanding.

The wet sanding was part of a headlight repair kit that I bought.

I followed the provided directions exactly as stated but it still ended up worse than before.

PlastiX and a porter cable cleared mine up. I thought this was a pretty common issue with headlights aging in general.
