I bump this thread because it made me lol.

Okay, I'll be honest, I was researching whether the HR hoods would fit on my 06 model. According to this thread, yes it would. But I may become a ricer

On a serious note, does anyone know how much I should pay for a good condition 07-08 hood? Maybe I should get this in OEM style carbon fiber painted PPW..... decisions decisions.

But seriously, this thread made me lol. You guys can read and lol too! lol. LOL. lol? lulz? teh lulz? lulzorz? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.......L.

I'm bored.

Was looking into a late model 350 and was going to see if the pre 07 hood would fit and stumbled upon this mess.

Boy you guys get butthurt over the smallest things...... oh he better not tell them he has an HR, and what a poser. Geez. Get a life.

Anyway, looks like the pre 07 won't fit. Too bad. Prefer it to the random bump on the 07 and up.

It's not "random"

As someone mentioned earlier, and as someone who has worked in the industry and is qualified to comment on this, it is the result of lazy engineering. I'd love to see what that does to the airflow in a wind tunnel as it was certainly not part of the design to begin with. Many ways this could have been avoided.

Anyway, like I said, doesn't matter either way as there is no chance of a normal DE hood on an HR it looks like.

Thanks for the good reading though. Reminds me of why I keep an eye on only a handful of threads.

I was under the impression the hump was there to fit the HR. I hadn't heard about a wind tunnel.

It's more than likely completely negligible.

Default BEST ANSWER. Simple

The 07-08 hoods do fit just fine on the 03'-06' 350z's. I have a stock hood on my 04' Z and the hood panel itself is only bolted on by 4 bolts. I bought a 07'-08' style hood on eBay. The 07'-08' style hood seems VERY hard to find! The only material it was available in was carbon fiber, no metal, no fiberglass.

The new model hood fit fine on my Z, bolts on in the exact same position and the hood latch is the exact same as the original. Cost about $517 after tax with local pickup and about $100 more if you want it shipped to you
