Default Functional body mods. Show me what you got.

I've never been big into body kits and such. Can't justify spending so much to make a car look, I guess "cool". They do look nice, but nothing is nicer than a car that has functional body upgrades. Things like splitters or wings, even flares to get them big rubbers under the car. Let's see what you got. Make it happen. Time now. Go.

But if you are used to being talked to like that, then go fetch boy. So, anyone that doesn't have terribly low self esteem, lets see those functional body mods.

No body mod is funtional unless going 100+ mph. Any kit can then be consiedered functional, if lower than stock bumpers, if it diverts air around the car as opposed to underneath it thereby preventing lift and air flow over the "unaerodynamic" underside of your car. Wings are useless unless going extremely fast, where then they create downforce...

What is it that you are looking for?

there are no flares just widebody kits that i have seen... splitters are no different than lips...

although it depends on your definition of functional...if you bought the car for the attention it brings then it's 100% win

See 350 Nismo (+71 lbs downforce @ 70ish MPH, Stock 350Z is supposedly +9lb lift) or 370 Nismo (+150 lbs downforce @ 70ish MPH).

Ok, I know what you are saying with every body kit is functional...to a certain degree. I'm not trying to get into that. Even though I'm going to go out on the limb and say that the old saying of wings don't do any good until 100+ is BS. I'm talking about parts you installed for function, not form. I'm pretty sure most people don't purchase a body kit for the aero benifits. Which I'm sure some do more for aero than others. Let me rephrase...body mods that you installed/had installed for actual benefits in handling. Is that better?

^The ones I listed above are known to provide more downforce on a car or help with airflow.

if you want a body kit design that is focused on aerodynamics you should get the Voltex kit

Thanks for the helpful posts guys. The list is nice and I already have a couple things on it. But I was just wanting to get a thread started with some cool track toys or daily drivers for those guys that live to go fast. Well, not just fast in a straight line. Won't have pics of mine to share for another few months. I know there are some Z's out there that are form over function. Pics Please!

It is much sturdier than stock and helps with heat soak.

Something you probably will want since you track your car.

Its actually pretty cheap compared to some other ARC items. For example, the ARC oil cooler is around 2 grand as well as the Diff cooler.

Depends on your definition of good. I believe on a Super GT car they serve a purpose...

I would like to see proof of the performance gained from a large wing on a Z with speeds under 100. I think there will be downforce provided, but minimal at best. Then apply said downforce to a proven gain in handling and speed and let me know.

Now if you gut your Z for weight impovement, thats a different story. A wing may then prove very functional for that much needed downforce.

For your purposes, i doubt you need a wing.
