I should get my set in a couple of days, I'll let you guys know what is
required for installation of these heel guards, I don't think you would want
to drill holes in your floor pan. On a different issue, I sent an E-mail to
AutoVation Technologies, the custom pocket is a special cut out that
you request for placement of an emblem, name plate or plaque. You have
to specify the dimensions of cut out ( custom pocket ) for an additional
$ 35.00 a piece. Somehow I selected that option when I placed my order
and had to have it modified a couple of days ago.

Keep us updated. I would like to get a pair too.

Heel guards
 

The set of heel guards arrived today, It took about thirty minutes to get them installed. the hardware included with the guards are as follows :
4 screws, 4 t-nuts and an allen wrench. To install I used a scratch awl to
punch four holes in each floor mat, it is best to remove the plastic tips underneath the floor mats with a hobby knife or a razor blade because the
t-nuts have to be flush against the floor mat. After punching the eight holes
with the awl, I enlarged them with a 7/32 hole punch which made it a lot easier to run the t-nuts through the mat, after you get the nuts installed
then you can screw in the heel guards. It's a piece of cake if you have the
tools. ( The 7/32 hole punch sure helped ). The heel guards look very nice. :eek::icon44:

Location of the Plate?
 

I was checking my OEM mats that have the rubber heal guard. It appears that the design and location of the mat makes it so it starts to curve up the back fire wall before the rubber stops, meaning the rubber guard is curved near the pedals. How does the flat metal guard fit there, or do you have to move it back on the mat to a flat part of the floor, which means part of the rubber guard will peek out the top?

The metal heel guard is smaller than the rubber pad on the floor mat, just line up the metal heel guard with the bottom edge of the rubber pad and it will clear. It doesn't look too bad once it is installed.

After I screwed down the heel guard, I simply unscrewed the heel guard, and pulled off the rubber heel guard.

You can pull off the rubber heal guard? It's carpet underneath?! How did you do it? Any heating tricks or just brute strength? :thumbup:

Does anyone know what the "Perimeter Ring" option is for the heel guards? I emailed the site a few days ago and never got a reply.

I sent that exact question to them a week or two ago and I'm not sure of the answer exactly...I didn't order them. Here's the reply, doesnt make that much sense:

"The Perimeter ring can be seen on a pedal set in the attached picture (the ring for a grid heel guard would look like the one on the left and the ring for the standard heel guard would be similar on the right), we have not made them for the heel guards yet, but the option is there."

Looking at the picture seems the perimeter ring is like a little raised lip around the circle.
