nismo fender cover

http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=6137

i have found 1 or 2 threads about this piece but no one that owns them or knows anything about them ever post for any real information. im looking at getting some ame tm02's with 10.5 +22 in the back and would hopefully like to put maybe some 295/35's on. i found this product that says that it can add some 7-10mm of clearance but what modifications to the fender, if any, are needed to put it on? i cant tell if it attached so low on the fender if it would actually allow for more room without rubbing. any help would be awesome and pictures would be more that awesome!

thanks
lemmi

you don't need this, just shave the insides of your fenders

lemmiwinkz 12-08-2009 11:00 PM

so its basically for visual purposes? no real advantage?

ive only seen the ASM fender liner ones and they were purely non cosmetic, i assume these are the same. Just shave your fenders and you can fit a 295x30 in the rear.

From what I read, these attach to your inner fender (the part you have to roll for more clearance) so unless you don't plan on lowering your car it's cosmetic.

Looks like you just paint and attach.

These are cosmetic in the sense that they won't give you anymore "internal" fender clearance.

They do give you more "external" fender clearance. What I am saying is that if you are running a wheel, tire and suspension setup that does clear your rear fenders (whether they be rolled, cut or pulled) under full suspension compression and yet your wheels and tires are still so aggressive that they stick out past your OEM rear fenders when the suspension is relaxed, then these will alleviate that. (Sorry for the run-on sentence.)

I've read that these can be applied to both the front and rear fenders but I have yet to have actually seen that attempted. These fender flares attach via double sided tape and four self-tapping screws per fender. They attach to the inside overhanging rear lip within the OEM rear fender but I have seen them applied to vehicles with both rolled fenders and pulled fenders.

The JDM Zs had a slightly different fender flare, I remember them being called "export flares" or "export lip", but search didn't reveal anything and maybe my memory is bad. I did find a thread using "JDM Fender Flares" that shows a pic of what I remember (https://my350z.com/forum/nismo-350z/...nge-nismo.html) and it looks like it gives additional external coverage only, no inner fender clearance.

those are from the JDM Spec NISMO and 380RS model, but aren't available for sale. ASM has ones that are available in this style (only sold as a frt/rear set)

Did you fit 295/35's on the rear?

So that would be a no.
