hood switch has to do with your alarm system.

Could I remove it??? Cause it's pushing up against my carbon fiber hood and it's giving me a gap where the hood meets the bumper.

My guess is that you have an 03, right?

Yes, you can remove it. They stop putting them in 04 and later models because it turned out that the switch wasn't really doing anything with respect to the security system.

You can test it by unsnapping it fron the mount and letting it sit in the engine bay. The button won't be depressed, etc. Check to make sure you can lock/unlock with keyfob, etc.

Look on your instrument panel and see if you a “hood open" warning light?

The hood switch wasn't designed to indicate that it was open, it was supposed to be part of the entry alarm system. That's how it functions on the G35 but apparently it never got implemented on the Z.

We found it when trying to install DEI shock sensors. The G35 guys were wiring them through the hood switch. 03 Z owners that tried it could never get it to work because the switch went nowhere. 04 and later Z owners didn't have the switch at all.
