Wow, after installing a new longnose front bumper, I've been fabricating a DIY lexan flat undertray from front to rear on my car (similar to this). The challenge is that the shape (length, width, and heights at different areas) of the full undertray will need to be different depending on your particular front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper, exhaust, etc.

I realized how much of a difference there really is when I got under the car and started working on it. I plan to swap back and forth from my aftermarket front & sides back to stock for autox/track so that I don't damage my kit hitting cones, etc. I found that I needed completely different spacing at different areas along the length of the car to match up with the sides, depending on which side skirts I had in place. This also meant that I needed different length bolts to attach the undertray because of the different height with the spacers. To make the tray match and give a true flat bottom from front to back, the tray also needs to match up with the lines of your bumpers & skirts, which vary from one bodykit to another. Add in the fact that some exhausts may need "dropout" sections where they can pass below the flat area of the tray, and I'm wondering how they can sell a "one size fits all" that isn't as much work as just buying the sheets and cutting it and spacing it yourself?

Maybe I'm going about mine all wrong, but those are the questions that I ran into just trying to make something that would work for both the stock setup and my one aftermarket bodykit.

tempting... but I feel like if you went off over uneven territory it'd crack/shatter and you'd be screwed... why not thin aluminum sheets?

Besides fiberglass doesn't shatter, it cracks first, and its quite easy to repair fiberglass.
Not to mention this isn't a mod for daily drivers, its a track specific mod, so if your rolling around getting groceries with it on, then thats your own fault.
Besides,this list is for those who want what is being offered, if you don't want it, then dont put your name on the list, but dont discuss it here.

I agree with the not shattering comment. I'm not sure exactly what they are using, but I'm using ballistics grade lexan and shattering isn't a concern.

I'm still wondering about how they are tackling the fitment issues between different kits. If they are able to provide a turnkey solution that saves me the time and money of building and fitting it on my own, I'm all ears. I just wanted to find out if I would essentially have the same amount of work getting theirs to fit to my bodykits as I am having putting my own together. It's my first time tackling something like this, and I may be going about it from the wrong direction? Should I post this type of question directly to the vendor or share it in this thread so that we all can understand what will go into fitment?

Waiting to see the results, and of course need to figure out the direction i take my car next. For now, not legal.

we all want it thats why we are here right !! to give your opinion about a product that not yet been developed is open for discussion as all of us part of this project. if you track your car thats great for you as for some one like me its for top-speed runs for each his own right ? am not stating that it should be FRB or metal am just giving idea's. also, if you fit a 3" exhaust i would say that any other exhaust system on the market will fit cause of smaller diameters thats all :)

any way, am not hear to argue but just to clear few things no hard feeling

if you have drawings of your initial design, im sure you could get your 3.

i'd be interested, but i understand fitting a piece like this to the variable exhaust/front/rear bumper combos will be nearly impossible, unless the end user ends up trimming and cutting to fit...and looking it into myself, the mounting solution is 3/4 of the problem. a flat underside is easy.

I think the best thing for us is to make the undertray fit to the OEM pannels. The end user could modify it as they need with some flat fiberglass extension parts. For the variable height we can mold the fiberglass to contour to the bends.

I really need to get up to some Z meets since i'm in San Diego a lot.
