Interior paint question
So the previous owner of the car thought it was cool to color match the door panels and the center bezel to the silver of the car. But i don't like it at all, looks kinda ricey. I can see the paint peeling/chipping off on little spots and can see the black underneath.
So my question is hows the best way to remove the paint? With some type of paint remover? If so which one? I also thought about taking a heat gun to it but then it might melt unshape the plastic with the heat. Will that happen? Or should i just paint over them black again? Thanks for any input. |
paint thinner?

I'd replace the parts with new oem parts. Paint thinner may damage or dull the plastic surface underneath leaving a not so appealing look.
Or.... you could buy duplicolor interior paint made for plastics and respray them black but I don't know how long or how well it would hold up. |
jsut get a wire wheel and a low speed drill, scratch off what comes off easily, then sand it using a foam saindg block, they help get an even finish.. and then use a quick adhesion promoter spray, then duplicolor... back to new. Sounds like far more than it is.
Heat gun? no way.. you wont remove the paint and you will melt the piece. |
